Arup is looking for a motivated Systems Integration Lead to join our growing rail team! You will focus on completing current rail project work as well as supporting Arup in pursuing new rail projects. Our teams are presently working on regional projects like the MBTA Green Line Extension, Eglinton Crosstown West Extension, OnCorr, Finch West LRT, Bloor-Yonge Capacity Improvement, HFR, Alexandra Bridge, etc.!

 

The opportunity  

  • Lead and coordinate the Systems Engineering and integration processes for new, and upgrade of existing rail systems, including the definition and control of the System Architecture, Requirements Management, System Integration Functions, Interface Management, Signalling Design, Traction Power, OCS design, Track and Alignment design, Vehicle design, EMC Management, Systems Assurance, Software Management, Verification & Validation, Test and commissioning, and System Performance and Simulation, Maintenance, Yard design.

  • Own the engineering process on large railway projects. Leading and performing requirements analysis, writing, research, and development. Communicating clear requirements for the project and supporting requirements engineering activities through all stages of the project.
  • Establish the Requirements Traceability Matrix using requirements tools, i.e., Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements Systems New Generations (DOORS NG).
  • Identify, document, and handling rail system interfaces through to closeout.
  • Lead to achieve key rail systems line-wide performance targets, including Safety Assurance, RAM Performance, Operating Service Performance, Software Quality Assurance, Cybersecurity, EMC Management, Grounding & Bonding, and Human Factor Integration.
  • Handle development of test plans for Interface and Integration Testing and Commissioning, including System Integration Testing (SAT) for the interfaces and Integrated System Testing (IST) and Revenue Services Demonstration (RSD) for the applicable integrated railway functions.
  • Coordinate scheduling, providing key activities, tasks, and decision points to project scheduling team to ensure systems integration related activities are accounted for in the project schedule.
  • Developing technical reports for internal and external purposes as applicable through all phases. As well as creating informational and engaging strategies for supervising and reporting on systems integration progress.
  • Participating in multiple projects throughout their lifecycles, from market engagement, solution preparation, project execution and delivery, to project close out.

Is this role right for you?
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Electronic, Information systems or similar, or equivalent experience
  • P. Eng. Designation
  • Comprehension of the Systems Engineering “V” Life Cycle Process
  • 12 plus years in running interface coordination and integration on large-scale projects. Solid understanding of project management principles and practices.
  • Experience in coordinating with multiple collaborators and resolving interface disagreements.
  • Sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals related to transportation.
  • The ability to prioritize optimally, balance assigned work and outstanding organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for team-based work.
  • Presentation skills which engage colleagues and clients at different levels.
  • Proficiency in data processing and analysis using tools such as Excel, VBA, Python, or other applicable tools.

Toronto Hiring Range – The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $160,000 to $190,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
