The Opportunity
Sitting within the East Asia energy business, and enclosed within the wider Energy, Water and Resources
business portfolio, you would sit with established technical and consulting teams across the region. You will work on a range of regional and global assignments, on top of local projects predominantly as senior engineer for renewable energy projects, and support on other related renewable energy, hydro-electric and storage projects, or as otherwise agreed with your Group Leader.
As senior engineer, your role would involve leading, directing and delivering projects, as well as mentoring and training junior staff who are inclined to grow in this line of work. You would be responsible for dealing with the contractual, commercial, and technical delivery as well as the strategic oversight and risk management of the whole project. As you will be closely interfacing with the client, you will act as a liaison officer who will help grow our relationship with the client. You will also cross sell, where possible, our capabilities which will assist our relevant other groups (i.e. buildings, infrastructure, water, and consulting) to show their capabilities to grow our various local groups.
The role is based in Manila office.
Your role in our team
- Technical leadership and direction in the delivery of renewable energy projects.
- Responsible for leading small to medium sized teams/projects, and key contributions to larger ones .
- Lead feasibility, procurement and design works for projects /
- Initiate and manage project reviews, including inception and design reviews.
- Resolves complex technical issues of the project.
- Manage and ensure the project commercially delivers against Arup’s business plan.
- Supporting Project Director in the overall delivery of the project.
- Manage H&S for project.
- Creates communication plan for team/project and writes and delivers key components of it.
- Lead resource, skills, and time planning for timely project delivery.
- Lead meetings and project presentations to clients .
- Maintain quality standards and client relations for the project.
- Assists with preparation of bids and proposals.
Is this role right for you?
- Licensed/Chartered/Professionally Qualified Engineer (Civil or similar area); post graduate studies will be an advantage/
- With at least 10 years’ experience in relevant industry in power generation, solar PV, hydropower, wind, project management, project proposals, within a multi-disciplinary consulting business and similar environments
- Experience in the delivery of small to utility scale power projects
- Membership of relevant professional institutions and associations recognized in the Philippines or internationally.
- Knowledgeable of relevant local policies, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines, including OH&S/
- A good technical understanding of renewable technologies including its technical specifications and installation requirements.
- A good understanding of managing commercial aspects of the project.
- Ability to work on proposals for consulting services in the energy business.
- Effective written communication and report writing skills.
- Ability to communicate with people at all levels in both technical and non-technical environments.
