Senior Project Manager - Water

The role

•    Prospecting for new work, identifying opportunities with current and new clients, developing client relationships and leading major bids.
•    On securing new work, lead the delivery of commissions, managing the delivery team consisting of both internal and external project team resources, in full compliance with Arup Management System requirements.
•    Deliver work to a high standard of client satisfaction and profitably for Arup.
•    Mentoring of junior staff.
•    Develop new service offerings.
•    To take an active part in the development and delivery of programme and project management commissions in the UK water sector, working on provision of infrastructure for the water sector AMP cycle programmes. 

Requirements and skills

•    A high calibre and experienced Professional Project Manager with a technical background in engineering with the clear potential to develop.
•    Demonstrable project management experience having successfully led teams on design and/or construction of water related schemes.
•    Experience of delivering projects from a client project management perspective.  Value of project should be at least £50m construction cost, or >£100m for a programme of infrastructure projects.
•    Experience of at least one area of programme management disciplines, such as benefits management, PMO, stakeholder management would be an advantage.
•    Evidence of solid achievement and career development in project and programme management within the water sector supported by references.
•    Current client contacts in the UK infrastructure sector.
•    Knowledge of water market regulation.
•    Experience of business development for consulting services in water infrastructure markets.
•    Sound knowledge of developments and drivers in the UK water sector.
•    Good commercial and contractual awareness.
•    Experience of administering construction contracts.
•    They will also have experience in at least one other infrastructure sector such as energy, transportation, rail, aviation, highways.


•    Minimum of a good first degree and CEng qualification in engineering, construction or related field.
•    Project and Programme management qualifications, such as APM PQ, or equivalent.
