The Opportunity

Working within the Ground Engineering team, you will use your existing technical and professional skills to direct others in interpreting and characterising the ground, geotechnical analysis, report writing and production of drawings and specifications, to deliver projects across a range of markets and sectors.

You will also take a role in mentoring and managing our junior members of the team and promote skill sharing across disciplines.

This role requires a good appreciation of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering and their application in the built environment with the critical thinking skills to assess the buildability of the designs you prepare.

Our teams are based across Bristol, Cardiff and Winchester and open to these office locations.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for a Masters in Civil Engineering or equivalent with postgraduate qualification in a geotechnical related subject, eg Soil Mechanics.  Your qualification, post-graduate qualification or career history will have included a basic comprehension of structural engineering.

As a senior Engineer you will have established skills and experience to critically guide and review geotechnical work by others such as:
Problem solving using a range of geotechnical solutions to meet project requirements;

  • Characterising the ground for engineering purposes;
  • Design of shallow and deep foundations, slopes, retaining walls, basements, and bridges;
  • Preparing geotechnical documents such as desk studies, interpretative reports, and specifications;
  • Attending site to oversee ground investigations or construction of geotechnical solutions;
  • Using digital technologies such as the use of finite element software, GIS, programming, and data processing.

You may already hold a preferred technical specialism or market/sector focus, allowing you to contribute and lead within the group framework.
As a Senior Engineer, you will hold chartered engineer status in the UK or be able to transfer to a UK organisation based on your career thus far.
