Our Technical Specialist Services team in Copenhagen is a core driver of Arup's commitment to sustainable development. The team is being in rapid growth as part of our presence in Denmark and the Nordics. The specialist team currently consists of eight highly skilled engineers and architects specializing in materials, facades, and fire engineering. We are passionate about delivering innovative solutions that maximise quality and minimize environmental impact. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you'll contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects across Scandinavia and internationally, collaborating with experts from various disciplines.

As part of our global Façade Engineering team, you’ll play a critical role in delivering high-performance, aesthetically appealing, and durable building envelope solutions. We work closely with clients and architects to develop creative and sustainable designs that push the boundaries of innovation. Our team’s expertise spans from conceptual design to construction, ensuring the successful realization of some of the world’s most iconic projects.

The Opportunity

This is your chance to join a leading multidisciplinary consultancy, working on some of the most exciting and challenging projects both in Denmark and abroad. As a Senior Façade Engineer at Arup, you will:

  • Manage your own projects and junior engineers to deliver quality façade engineering solutions on time and on budget.

  • Take a lead design role in facade and building envelope projects: both standalone and multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Work with architects and other engineers to develop designs which consider aesthetics as well as being technically appropriate and code compliant.

  • Translate Client requirements into an appropriate and clear project delivery approach, making sound decisions and communicating effectively at all levels both internally and externally.

  • In partnership with the Team/Discipline Leader, assist the ongoing development of a high-performance engineering team by dissemination of knowledge to other engineers throughout the firm.

  • Provide support in the preparation of bids.

  • Work on a diverse, exciting range of projects from conceptual design development through to handing over landmark projects in the built environment.

  • Be responsible for fee proposals, undertaking business development activities, and establishing a network of clients/colleagues in Arup, and outside Arup.

  • Manage others in the development and implementation of design and engineering strategies, projects, and research initiatives.

  • Responsible for the overall design, technical delivery, quality and/or management of façade design and engineering of small to large, complex projects, co-ordinating with other design team members and project stakeholders.

  • Responsible for enhancing the capability and reputation of the Arup Façade Engineering team in the group, the wider discipline, and beyond.

  • Responsible for the development and/or implementation of plans for the long-term benefit of the team and wider discipline.

  • Provide information on façade engineering to other engineers within the company, conduct design reviews, and assist in the development of junior engineers.

     

Does this role inspire you?

We're looking for someone who is passionate about Fire design. These are the essential skills and qualifications for the position:

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a consultancy or similar environment.

  • Experience of leading your discipline on complex projects.

  • Strong knowledge of appropriate sector specific legislation, code requirements and design guidance.

  • Knowledge of key suppliers and manufacturers serving this discipline and the products available.

  • Capable of undertaking facade design and engineering from Concept to Contract issue.

  • An understanding of construction phase elements.

  • Ability to work with a range of clients and to represent Arup at a senior level.

  • Ability to support in the preparation and presentation of bids.

  • Manage others in the development and implementation of strategies, projects and research initiatives.

  • Possess excellent report writing and communication skills; being creative, collaborative and engaging.

  • Strong competencies in the typical suite of office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF read/writing).

  • A good understanding of BIM and an enthusiasm for driving digital transformation the way we work and what we deliver.

  • Proven track record of working on multiple projects concurrently, working to tight deadlines, and managing multiple priorities.

  • Understand and manage the scope and relevant programme constraints of projects.

  • Enthusiasm for sustainable building design, together with a good understanding of UN SDG’s and their implementation at a project level.

Beneficial

  • Fluency in Danish or other Scandinavian language.

  • Strong Project Management and Team Management experience.

  • Strong client-facing and presentation skills.

  • Experience with using advanced modelling software such as Revit.

  • Knowledge and experience working with local legislation and design guidance.
