Based in the Victorian Energy Team, with a primary focus on delivering our pipeline of multidisciplinary renewable energy projects. Playing a leading role in the positioning for, winning and delivering projects within the growing renewable energy industry, this role will support the accelerating expansion of our Energy Business locally and regionally. 

As a senior member of the Victorian Geography, you will form part of an established leadership team focused on the Energy sector. Your role will involve leveraging your extensive and established relationships across the renewables industry to bring Arup’s full service offering to bear with our clients.  

Your deep experience in leading complex multidisciplinary projects and extensive technical knowledge will play a critical role in the successful delivery of a range of renewable energy projects for private developers and government clients, from strategic and technical advisory to delivery of designs and construction support.

As Project and/or Technical Director, you will be responsible for our overarching project performance and as an integrated member of our Victorian Geography Leadership, have an influential role in the overarching success of our future business. 

What will I do?

  • Provide expert leadership in providing energy consulting services to clients, offering innovative solutions and in-depth knowledge.
  • Leading large-scale projects with multiple teams and stakeholders, developing project plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies, managing project risks, and mentoring junior project managers.
  • Provide expert leadership in design management and strategic planning for projects, offering innovative solutions and in-depth knowledge in design coordination. Act as a key collaborator in defining visionary project goals and objectives with design teams.
  • Set and meet agreed budgets and deadlines.  In addition, this role may be accountable for managing the financial performance of specified areas;
  • Organize content with precision, utilizing visual aids to ensure absolute clarity. Convey complex ideas and data with eloquence and conciseness.
  • Exhibit unmatched expertise in public speaking and presentation skills, exuding confidence and wielding significant influence. Continuously and proactively refine presentation techniques to achieve the pinnacle of communication effectiveness.


What will I bring?

  • Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering or similar area;
  • Relevant industry experience within the renewable energy design and consulting business environment;
  • Relevant experience in leading and directing a dedicated team of Engineers and Technical Specialists in the provision of high-level technical expertise in renewable energy infrastructure
  • Direct experience working for or with off-shore wind developers in Australia is preferred.
