High voltage infrastructure projects are technically demanding and require strong leadership, multidisciplinary coordination and careful management of commercial and contractual aspects. Successful delivery relies on integrating engineering excellence with effective stakeholder management and project governance across all phases, from concept through to commissioning.
In this role, you will lead the delivery of high voltage substation and/or transmission line projects, working closely with clients, engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. You will play a key role in delivering infrastructure that underpins the energy transition in Germany.
The Opportunity
As a Project Manager – High Voltage Substations and Transmission Lines, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of complex engineering projects, ensuring technical excellence, commercial performance, and alignment with client and regulatory requirements.
You will work within multidisciplinary and international teams, coordinating resources and stakeholders across all project phases. With your strong knowledge of the German energy sector and experience in EPC and/or consulting environments, you will contribute to the successful execution of projects that are critical to the development of modern energy infrastructure.
This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact infrastructure projects while further strengthening your expertise in project management, technical coordination and stakeholder engagement in a dynamic and evolving energy landscape.
As a Project Manager at Arup, you will:
Manage all phases of high voltage substation and/or transmission line projects, from initiation through commissioning, to ensure delivery on time, within scope, and budget.
Oversee commercial and contractual project aspects, including risk management, contract negotiations, and compliance with client requirements.
Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, coordinating international multidisciplinary teams and resources to achieve project milestones.
Collaborate with stakeholders, including clients, subconsultants, and regulatory bodies, ensuring effective communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare and present regular project updates, reports, and documentation to senior management and clients.

We are looking for someone proactive and dynamic who is willing to be part of the Energy team in Arup Germany. Ideally, you’ll bring:
Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience managing high voltage substation and/or transmission line projects.
Strong experience in project delivery within the energy sector, ideally in EPC environments and/or consulting firms.
In-depth knowledge of the German energy industry and regulatory environment.
Technical expertise in high voltage systems (primary and/or secondary).
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
Commercial awareness and solid understanding of contract management.
Excellent organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
Fluency in German (C1) and strong English skills.
