The Opportunity
At Arup, you'll help create safer, more sustainable and people-focused transport networks that connect communities and improve everyday lives. As a Graduate Roads & Streets Engineer, you'll work alongside industry-leading specialists on a diverse range of road, street, active travel and public transport projects across Ireland and beyond.
We're looking for curious, motivated graduates who are ready to bring fresh ideas, challenge convention and make a positive impact through engineering excellence.
As part of our Roads & Streets team, you'll contribute to the planning, design and delivery of a wide variety of projects, including:
- Urban and rural road improvement schemes
- Street design and public realm enhancement projects
- Active Travel and Greenway infrastructure
- Public Transport Priority measures
- National transport design standards and policy development
- Design & Build and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) infrastructure projects
You'll gain valuable experience working within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with engineers, planners, clients and contractors to deliver innovative and sustainable transport solutions.
As a Graduate Roads & Streets Engineer, you will:
- Assist in the preparation of technical designs, drawings, reports and specifications.
- Support the design of road alignments, streetscapes, active travel facilities and drainage infrastructure.
- Contribute to research and the development of transport design standards and guidance.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, standards and quality requirements.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver projects.
- Support project delivery while maintaining high standards of health, safety and technical excellence.

Is this role right for you?
For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
An undergraduate or bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in:
- Civil Engineering
- Transportation Engineering
- Structural Engineering
- Civil & Environmental Engineering
- Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering
- Engineering with a Transportation or Highways specialism
You will also demonstrate:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- A passion for transport, infrastructure and sustainable mobility.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
- An interest in designing places that positively impact communities.
To be considered for a graduate opportunity, your application must include a copy of your academic transcript and meet the following criteria:
- Full working rights in the country of application
- No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role
- Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.
