The Opportunity

At Arup, you'll join a collaborative team working on critical energy infrastructure projects across gas transmission and distribution networks. As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you'll contribute to the design and delivery of complex engineering solutions while developing your technical expertise through real project experience and mentorship from industry-leading specialists.

What you'll do

  • Support the design and delivery of energy infrastructure projects, including pipelines, pressure reduction stations and associated facilities
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, layouts, drawings and technical reports
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop coordinated engineering solutions
  • Gain experience across concept, feasibility and detailed design stages
  • Develop your understanding of industry standards, engineering best practice and safety requirements

Is this role right for you?  

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:    

  • An undergraduate or bachelor's degree (or equivalent)  
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Process Engineering
  • Materials Engineering / Materials Science

You will ideally have knowledge or exposure to:

  • Mechanical design principles and engineering calculations
  • CAD software, including AutoCAD
  • Engineering drawings, technical documentation and reports
  • Pipeline, pressure vessel and mechanical systems design
  • Fluid mechanics and thermodynamics
  • Process engineering, PFDs and P&IDs
  • Gas transmission and distribution systems
  • Energy infrastructure and sustainable energy systems
  • Materials selection, corrosion engineering and materials performance
  • Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) principles, risk assessment and quality assurance

To be considered for a graduate opportunity, your application must include a copy of your academic transcript and meet the following criteria:  

  • Full working rights in the country of application  
  • No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role  
  • Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.

Eligibility  

We're able to consider candidates who require an employment permit to work in Ireland, where the role and offered salary meet the Irish Government's eligibility criteria (for example, under the Critical Skills or General Employment Permit schemes). All Employment Permits are granted at the discretion of the Deciding Officer with offers contingent to obtaining the correct immigration to work and reside in Ireland.
