The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a digital learning analyst to join our team. In this role you will empower colleagues to become skilled, confident and highly effective in using Arup’s suite of technology tools. You will achieve through the design, transition, operation, and continuous improvement of digital learning activities across the firm. You’ll join a team of 3 people globally and will report to the digital learning leader, who is based in Newcastle, England.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Deliver training programmes in formal (e.g. classroom), informal (e.g. floor-walking) or online (e.g. e-learning and webinar) settings
  • Carry out training needs analysis, designing training programmes appropriate to the skills needed
  • Design course materials and documents such as handouts, manuals and exercises
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes and learning outcomes
  • Devise and evaluate methods for collecting data, such as surveys, questionnaires, and customer satisfaction polls
  • Prepare reports and present results to key stakeholders, service owners and management
  • Convert complex data and findings into understandable tables, graphs, and written reports
  • Develop an appropriate mix of formal and informal development activities
  • Support and coach learners using learning technologies to deliver skills
  • Liaise with partners (e.g. external/internal course providers, employers, examining bodies, 3rd Party Vendors) to fulfil the skills needs of Arup

Requirements and skills

Essential skills and knowledge:  

  • Great interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage expectations and explain non-technical and technical detail
  • An aptitude for IT and an up-to-date knowledge of common applications and systems, such as the Adobe suite
  • Knowledge of IT service processes (ITIL) and best practices
  • A high level of organisation with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple pieces work
  • Confidence in training and presentation delivery, taking complex technical information and disseminating in an easy-to-understand format to colleagues at all levels
  • The ability to learn quickly, applying a logical approach to problem solving
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills


  • Video production skills
  • SharePoint owner experience
  • Familiar with the Adobe suite
  • Experience of working in multinational, multicultural environments

  • CIPD Level 3 or above is desirable
