We are seeking a BIM Coordinator in our West+ Geography (based in Bogotá) to support our Mechanical & Plumbing discipline teams in the drawings production and modeling of equipment, ductwork, piping systems and BIM coordination related activities. The ideal candidate will have good BIM production skills and experience in applying them to various projects at different stages, ensuring accurate and timely project delivery.

BIM Coordinators play a critical role in delivering high quality data enriched models and the resulting drawings to our clients. Within the Arup team, this involves overall project planning, detailed design development and coordination between all disciplines, managing and adhering to office/client BIM standards. This role requires to be in the forefront of all digital innovations within the office and must be able to learn and implement new tools and train others to use them effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of drawing production processes using Revit and at times AutoCAD.
  • Support the coordination of all in-coming and out-going model and drawing information.
  • Troubleshoot all problems that arise in a rapidly changing digital coordination environment.
  • Develop engineer’s concepts and sketches into accurate BIM / Revit models and drawings, through direct communications.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure compliance with BIM standards, project guidelines, and applicable electrical codes.
  • Collaborate with others (engineers, technicians and external parties) on resolving issues related to design, modeling, or clashes within the BIM environment.
  • Work on defined tasks under direct supervision.
  • When required, manage and coordinate BIM project data sets/workflows and project set up. Develop workflows to review BIM models to ensure model data is consistent and compliant with project contractual requirements and model health checks.

 

Skills: 

  • Proficient in Revit, with focus on mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or similar drawing production tools.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical/plumbing systems and design standards.
  • Proficiency in a recognized Coordination authoring platform or application – Navisworks, Solibri, Revizto or similar.
  • Proficiency in a recognized CDE platform – ProjectWise, ACC or similar.  
  • Knowledge of Dynamo or other parametric, fabrication tools, would be useful.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) for effective communication with team members and understanding project documentation.
  • Problem Solving - Tackle both large scale/conceptual level and detail/task level problems.
  • Adaptability - able to jump from project to project and stay abreast of all changes.
  • Communication – must be able to discern the meaning of what other professionals are saying (and describing) and also present information in a way that can be thoroughly considered and understood (i.e.: translating a vision into a workable model).
  • Creativity – Inject “outside the box” or new thinking into both building design and drawing production challenges.
  • Efficiency – should see a thorough understanding of, or development of, all applications/tools/functions as key.
  • Time Management – must be realistic about how long tasks will take and reasonably assess if meeting specific deadlines will be problematic. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Engineering, Architectural Technology, or technical drafting.
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in BIM coordination and modeling, mechanical/plumbing systems would be plus.
  • Interest and passion for all aspects of the built environment and how ideas become reality.
