The Opportunity
We’re looking for an Assistant Planner to join our collaborative and innovative Transport Modelling team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects in transport modelling and planning, working alongside senior transport modellers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams across the UK and internationally.
Is this role for you?
As a transport modeller in our team, you will:
• Develop and apply innovative methodologies to solve complex urban modelling challenges using data, models, and visualisation.
• Build and calibrate models and forecasting future transport scenarios.
• Support scheme assessments and mitigation testing through robust data analysis.
• Extract data from models, interpret and produce technical reports / notes
You will be based in London with potential project work elsewhere in the UK and internationally, as required.
Requirements
• Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Data Science, Transport Planning, Statistics).
• Data visualisation / processing
• Ability to present complex data clearly and effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal and client-facing communication.
• Comfortable working independently and within a team.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
• Masters degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Data Science, Transport Planning, Statistics
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience in report and technical note writing.
• Experience with activity-based and agent-based modelling, including synthetic population development.
• Familiarity with MATSim or PopulationSim.
• Experience with databases and statistical tools (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, R).
• Knowledge of traditional modelling software (e.g., SATURN, VISSUM, CUBE).
