The Opportunity
Arup is a global leader in engineering, design, and consultancy services. We are dedicated to shaping a better world through innovative and sustainable solutions. Our London tunnelling team is at the forefront of delivering complex underground projects that transform urban environments.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Associate Director to lead our work winning efforts for the London tunnelling team. This role is pivotal in driving business growth, securing new projects, and maintaining strong client relationships. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in the tunnelling sector and a deep understanding of the market. In addition to focusing on work-winning, the successful candidate will have an excellent technical background in tunnelling, and by able to lead tunnelling projects, providing guidance to younger team members.
Is this role for you?
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the tunnelling sector. Develop and implement strategies to secure high-value projects.
- Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners. Act as the primary point of contact for key clients.
- Proposal Management: Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality proposals and bids. Ensure proposals align with client needs and Arup's strategic objectives.
- Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape. Provide insights to inform business strategies.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide a team of professionals in business development activities. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Project Leadership: Lead the tunnels discipline on a wide variety of projects, mentoring other engineers and being client facing.
- Networking: Represent Arup at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities. Enhance the company's visibility and reputation in the tunnelling sector.
Requirements and Skills
- Master’s degree in civil engineering, Geology, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in the tunnelling sector, with a focus on business development and work winning.
- Strong understanding of the UK and international market.
- Proven track record of securing high-value projects and building client relationships.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Leadership experience with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills.
