The Opportunity

We have new opportunities for experienced and ambitious Transport Modeller to join our collaborative and creative Transport Consulting team in London.

As a transport modeller, you will work closely with senior transport modellers and project managers in the transport consulting team in London.  Our transport planning business operates across the UK and internationally, interacting with multidisciplinary teams and the vibrant transport modelling community in Arup globally.

 

You will be expected to be able to:

·        Contribute to projects and bids through developing innovative methodologies to solve transport modelling problems through use of data, models and visualisations.

·        Undertake transport modelling including developing strategic transport models, model calibration and validation, forecasting future conditions, testing mitigation scenarios and scheme assessment.

·        Attend client meetings and meet with collaborators.

·        Extract data from models, interpret and produce technical reports / notes

 

The Role

This role will suit an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with good communication skills with an ambition to work on exciting and high-profile schemes and looking to develop their strategic modelling skills further.

You will be based in London with potential project work elsewhere in the UK and internationally, as required.

 

Essential Skills and Knowledge

·        Proven experience in transport modelling (e.g. highways, public transport and multimodal modelling).

·        Proven experience with VISUM, Saturn, CUBE or MATSIM software.

·        Proven ability to support the development, calibration and validation of traffic models and knowledge of TAG requirements.

·        Experienced in Excel & in report and technical note writing.

·        Can present data to a high standard of quality.

·        Excellent communication skills and interface with clients & Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a larger team.

 

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

·        A master’s degree in relevant discipline (e.g. transport planning).

·        Skills in working with databases/ statistical analysis packages/ programming languages (e.g. MySQL/ SQLServer, R, Python, VBA).

·        Experience in using other modelling software (e.g. Saturn, VISSIM, Paramics, Junctions, LINSIG)

·        International experience

·        Experience using National Highways Regional Traffic Models (RTMs) and their PCF process.

·        Experience of developing and running TfL strategic models (e.g. LOHAM, Railplan, MoTiON, CYNEMON, ONEModel). GIS experience (preferably ArcGIS or QGIS).
