Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

Arup is the creative force at the heart of many of the world’s most prominent projects in the built and natural environment. Working in more than 140 countries, the firm’s designers, engineers, architects, planners, consultants, and technical specialists work with our clients on innovative projects of the highest quality and impact. As a wholly independent organisation, we are owned in trust for the benefit of our employees and their dependants: with no shareholders or external investors we determine our own business priorities and direction.

The Opportunity

In an increasingly competitive marketplace, our Marketing, Communications, and Business Development (MCBD) team enables Arup to build and protect our reputation, deepen client relationships, win quality work, and attract top talent. This role will be key in achieving our strategic market and client ambitions. We are seeking to hire a Marketing Coordinator to strengthen our MCBD function.

This role provides an excellent developmental step for early career marketers with some professional experience who are ready to take more ownership of global marketing activities, but who are not yet expected to lead full workstreams independently.

Transport is one of Arup’s core businesses. Working as part of the global marketing team, you will support the creation and delivery of global marketing plans that raise the profile and reputation of Arup’s Transport business across key markets; Rail, Roads & Streets, Aviation and Maritime. You will collaborate closely with marketing colleagues and technical leaders to deliver compelling content, campaigns and events aligned to strategic goals.

The post sits within the global marketing team, which is part of our global marketing and communications group. The postholder will be line managed by the Transport Global Marketing Lead. The post holder’s primary relationships will be with members of the global transport community as well as marketing and communications colleagues at global and regional levels – these will include communications channel managers and marketers responsible for business and services marketing.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Transport content creation including case studies, project stories, social posts, web updates and collateral.
  • Draft and edit marketing content with increasing independence and confidence.
  • Support elements of the global marketing and communications plan for the Transport business.
  • Conduct competitor and client research to inform value propositions and campaign planning.
  • Support preparation of speaker briefs and event coordination.
  • Assist in developing targeted email marketing activities and digital marketing execution.
  • Identify new opportunities to raise the profile of the business and its activities across key markets and audiences.
  • Work with internal communications colleagues to share news, priorities and stories within Arup.
  • Help raise awareness of the business/service strategy across global and regional MCBD teams.
  • Contribute to the development of internal assets that support collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain regular communication with global networks of subject matter experts.
  • Build positive relationships with marketing peers in global and regions teams to support joined up delivery.
  • Seek opportunities to raise visibility of global priorities and audiences.

Is this role right for you?

If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoy crafting compelling content that resonates with diverse audiences, this role could be a great fit. You’ll bring fresh ideas, a curious mindset, and a willingness to experiment with new approaches to internal engagement. Whether you're experienced in internal communications or looking to grow in this space, we’re looking for someone who’s proactive, organised, and excited to contribute to a global team.

Skills & Requirements

  • Undergraduate, further degree or experience equivalent to a degree, preferably in Marketing, Business, Management, Commerce or Economics; and/or a postgraduate professional qualification or accreditation in marketing.
  • Early Career Marketing experience, preferably within a professional services, technical services and/or engineering B2B context
  • Strong writing skills and good knowledge of English grammar and usage (although English as a first language is not required)
  • Personable and collaborative working style with good listening skills and a commitment to positive stakeholder management
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and an enthusiasm to learn from and share with others
  • Proactive approach, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple ongoing activities with a degree of autonomy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and influencing.
  • Strong writing and editing skills; comfortable drafting content with guidance.
  • Proactive, collaborative mindset; enthusiastic about learning from subject matter experts.
  • Detail oriented and committed to quality.
  • Able to manage competing priorities with some autonomy.
  • Comfortable working across dispersed global teams.
  • High level of personal integrity, professionalism, and inclusive leadership. Commitment to exemplifying Arup’s aims, particularly those of being a ‘humane organisation’, maintaining ‘quality of work’, and ‘straight and honorable dealings’.
