The role will involve identifying the technical risks & opportunities that are material to investors and presenting them in a way that our clients are able to understand the impact on the business plan. You will be required to interface with the client directly as well as provide technical/ commercial inputs to other advisors in the process.
Project work will require a range of skills & duties including:
- Undertaking financial and technical business plan analysis focussing on capex and opex.

- Undertaking asset and operational reviews of organisations & advising clients on the technical, commercial and operational issues in relation to assets and infrastructure.
- Reviewing the approach to capital delivery for new investments, including permits and programme review as well as the procurement and project management strategy deployed.
- Working with Arup’s engineering teams to understand and articulate the technical risks and opportunities to non-technical clients.
- Preparing and supporting delivery of reports and presentations to clients.
Our projects generally last between 4-6 weeks, meaning in a year you can work on up to 12 different projects across a variety of assets and geographies, giving you exposure to a number of different assets and clients. Our projects are fast-paced and provide you with opportunities to develop quickly whilst gaining a range of experience.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
Is this role right for you?
- You will ideally have previous experience in engineering, commercial, economic, or financial analysis.
- You will ideally have experience within the wider telecoms sector; data centres, fibre and/or towers, and understanding of the telecoms ecosystem and the associated private sector business models, or knowledge of how the asset is developed, operated and managed.
- You may have a degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, other engineering disciplines, economics, finance, business management, a closely related discipline, or equivalent professional experience in these fields;
- Previous due diligence experience and experience of working with investors, lenders, and financial advisors is helpful, but not essential. A willingness to learn & adapt is most important here!
