The Opportunity

This is your change to work on a fast-paced, dynamic team with a focus on sustainable business development and cutting-edge research in the ESG field.

 

As an ESG Advisory Trainee at Arup, you will:

  • Participate in due diligence in energy and infrastructure asset portfolio transactions (in operation and under development).
  • Get involved in consulting on renewable energy acquisition and management strategies (Self-consumption, PPAs, Guarantees of Origin, others).
  • Provide insight into Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects for infrastructure and energy investors and developers through the production of due diligence reports, climate change assessments, green financing reports, analysis of EU sustainable finance regulations, quantitative ESG analysis, ESG business plan and strategic integration, and portfolio optimisation studies.
  • Support other BIA team members on technical and commercial due diligence projects
  • Perform a key analyst role on international and multi-disciplinary project delivery teams, liaising with other experts within and outside the organisation on complex issues.
  • Distill large amounts of information towards key technical and ESG business plan drivers, inter alia through working with data analytics tools.
  • Collaborate with wider international teams to develop our sustainable investment advisory service offering.
  • Attend meetings with clients to present findings on projects.

 

Does this role inspire you?

We are looking for someone proactive that wants to develop their career in the Advisory ESG area. Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • To be currently studying a degree in economics, finance, business administration/studies, civil/environmental engineering, environmental science, international relations, law, and have a passion for sustainability.
  • Advanced use of the Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • High level of Spanish (C1) and English (C1) required.

 

You should have a technical understanding or in at least one (preferably more) of the following asset classes:

  • Hydrogen value chain and hydrogen derivatives like e-Methanol, green ammonia, and synthetic aviation fuels
  • Biofuels, biogas, biomethane
  • Battery manufacturing and/or storage
  • Low emission mobility like EV charging, fuel cell solutions, application of renewable fuels
  • Civil transportation infrastructure (ports, highways, roads, bridges, airports, rail, etc.)
  • Other types of infrastructure (hospitals, data centres, etc.)


Bonus points if you have:

  • Master's degree in Renewable Energies, Energy, European or International Law, International Economics, Corporate Environmental Management, or similar.
  • French or Portuguese language skills.
  • Organizational skills, communication skills (both verbal and written) and motivation at work will be valued.

 

Conditions

  • Be enrolled in the university to be able to establish an agreement with the University
  • Immediate incorporation
  • Duration: 6 months of extendable internship (possibility of joining after completing the internship)
  • Schedule: From 20 to 40 hours per week to be defined with the student
  • Remuneration: will depend on the student's level of training and the number of hours established.
