The Opportunity... 

The Technical Lead – Aquatic Ecology (TL-AE) role is one of four of a series of skills Associates appointed as part of the new Nature structure within Arup. Skills directors will work with Nature director and Nature geographic guides to drive the business forward. These are national (and international) roles that will grow Arup’s profile and impact in their defined areas. Directing the highest quality Aquatic Ecology group within Arup and our supply chain. Pro-actively selling Aquatic Ecology services to our clients, meeting their current and future needs. Map out existing and potential Aquatic Ecology work within UK and Europe, including spending time with major clients to appreciate drivers, trails and opportunities. Critically review current skills levels, distribution and potential within existing headcount. Audit Aquatic Ecology supply chain and collaborators. Complete gap investigations of above to inform next steps including reskilling and recruitment. Continue and secure new Aquatic Ecology opportunity roles on major projects to ensure role is self-sustaining.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for people with the following skills –

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject
  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline, such as an MSc in Ecological Consultancy, is advantageous
  • Membership of CIEEM, or equivalent professional body or seeking to work towards Chartership or Fellow
  • Extensive experience within the field of Aquatic Ecology with the ability to act as a subject matter expert.
  • Externally focused with the ability to win business, exposure to enquiries and capable of shaping and guiding future policies
