Location: India, Bangalore
Business Unit: Buildings
Reports to: BIM Manager
Arup is seeking an experienced Task Team Senior Civil to join our growing team in
Bangalore, India. This candidate will be responsible for leading the design development,
coordination, and management of Civil design models across all project stages. This role
ensures Civil design solutions are accurately modelled, coordinated with other disciplines,
and compliant with client and project standards. This person works closely with Civil
engineers, MEP team, BIM Managers, architects, and other stakeholders to deliver high quality, clash-free, and data-rich models to support design delivery.
The ideal candidate would be a design-led, three-dimensional thinker who places creativity and
spatial problem-solving at the heart of their approach - with BIM capability as a supporting
skill, not the driver.
This individual must be able to interpret and draw information into the model in a technically
sound, engineering-led manner, using the model as both a design coordination tool and a
powerful medium of communication.
The ideal candidate will serve as a design integrator -someone who can think in 3D, proactively
identify and resolve technical coordination challenges, and lead strategic planning discussions
before modelling begins. They will be instrumental in bringing engineers together to define
strategies, establish design intent, and enable seamless coordination across disciplines,
ensuring that modelling is efficient, integrated, and robust from the outset.
Key Responsibilities
As a Task Team Senior Civil at Arup, you will be responsible for:
• Lead Civil model coordination with architecture, structure, and other MEP disciplines
(preferable disciplines are Rail, Aviation, Tunnels, Stations)
• Understand the Civil design and implement the Civil sketches from the design team
independently and with minimal guidance from the Civil engineering team.
• Develop detailed Civil BIM models, preferable disciplines are Rail, Aviation,
Tunnels, Stations
• Conduct clash detection using Navisworks Manage or equivalent tools and manage
issue resolution workflows.
• Proactively resolve clashes and coordination issues. Arrange multidisciplinary
meetings to resolve design coordination issues.
• Ensure the highest quality for all BIM package submissions in accordance with
Project standards, client requirements, and the BIM execution plan
• Perform Quality Assurance and Control checks on models within geometrical and
parametric compliance with the Project's BIM requirements
• Prepare discipline model and/or content for internal reviews and coordination
meetings
• Act as the Model Administrator for Civil models, ensuring version control, file
integrity, and model accessibility.
• Enforce company and client BIM standards, templates, and naming conventions in
line with ISO 19650 principles.
• Generate BIM-based drawings and coordinated layouts.
Required Qualifications & Experience
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Experience in Civil disciplines within BIM Modeling & Management
• Minimum of 5+ years of BIM coordination & modelling experience in Civil detailing
• Preferably experienced in project delivery in the Middle East.
• Experience working in a design consultancy with a proven track record in delivering
projects in collaboration with remote design centres.
• Strong proficiency in software used for civil disciplines (preferably Autodesk Civil
3D, Revit, Navisworks and Autodesk Construction Cloud and/or Bentley Suite)
• Strong understanding of Civil engineering systems and terminology.
• In-depth knowledge of ISO 19650 standards, information management principles, and
openBIM workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Desirable Skills
• Experience with tools like Solibri, Revizto, BIMCollab
• Experience in Rhino, Grasshopper and parametric design tools.
• Experience using automation tools like Dynamo, Python, or C# for repetitive BIM
tasks and model validation.
• Interest in digital innovation, AI applications in AEC, and future-focused workflows.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across teams and to clients.
• Experience in using Power BI or similar tools to monitor BIM implementation
performance.
