The Opportunity

As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, you will work with hiring managers, People colleagues and Talent Acquisition colleagues to attract, assess and hire diverse talent for roles that help us deliver work of real value to our clients, communities and members.

You will be responsible for delivering recruitment activity across a defined portfolio of roles, working within established recruitment processes and with guidance and support from more experienced Talent Acquisition colleagues where required.

This is an opportunity to develop your recruitment expertise while delivering end-to-end recruitment for a defined portfolio of vacancies in a fast-paced, collaborative and purpose-led environment. Experience in a structured in-house / RPO Engineering recruitment environment is essential.

You will be expected to organise and deliver recruitment activity effectively, maintain high standards of candidate and stakeholder communication and contribute to a consistent and inclusive recruitment experience. You will manage your day-to-day priorities independently while seeking guidance on more complex, sensitive or unfamiliar recruitment matters.

A typical day might include participating in a vacancy briefing with a hiring manager, reviewing a job description, sourcing candidates for a specialist role, conducting screening calls, preparing a shortlist, providing updates to hiring managers, coordinating recruitment activity with colleagues, supporting interview and selection activity, or progressing candidates through offer and onboarding stages.

As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, you will:

  • Manage recruitment activity for a defined portfolio of roles, supporting the recruitment lifecycle from requisition and vacancy briefing through to shortlist, interview, offer and onboarding handover.
  • Build positive working relationships with hiring managers, People colleagues and wider stakeholders, providing guidance on recruitment processes, sourcing options, candidate availability and recruitment timelines, seeking support on more complex matters where appropriate.
  • Review and develop job descriptions and adverts to ensure they are clear, inclusive, engaging and aligned with Arup’s tone and values.
  • Use a range of sourcing approaches within established recruitment processes, including direct sourcing, LinkedIn Recruiter, talent mapping, referrals, internal mobility, job boards, social media and relevant talent communities.
  • Identify, engage and screen potential candidates against agreed role requirements and capability expectations, presenting appropriately qualified candidates to hiring managers.
  • Support the delivery of diverse and well-screened candidate shortlists, providing clear candidate information and maintaining timely communication throughout the recruitment process.
  • Help create an inclusive, accessible and candidate-centred recruitment experience, including supporting reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process where required.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment records and activity updates in Taleo and other relevant systems, ensuring information is complete, timely and suitable for reporting.
  • Work closely with recruitment coordination, sourcing, People Services and mobility colleagues to provide a smooth and joined-up recruitment experience for candidates and hiring teams.
  • Follow agreed recruitment processes, policies and quality standards, identifying issues or opportunities for improvement and raising these with more experienced colleagues.
  • Contribute to team recruitment activities, projects and process improvements while continuing to develop your own recruitment knowledge and specialist capability.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for a recruitment professional who enjoys building relationships, finding great candidates and delivering a positive and inclusive recruitment experience. Experience in a structured in-house / RPO Engineering recruitment environment is essential.

This role would suit someone with good practical recruitment experience who is comfortable managing multiple vacancies and recruitment activities within established processes and is looking to continue developing their sourcing, stakeholder management and recruitment expertise.

We would be interested to hear from you if you can demonstrate:

  • Experience delivering recruitment activity in a busy, deadline-driven in-house / RPO Engineering recruitment environment.
  • Good stakeholder management skills and the confidence to communicate effectively with hiring managers, candidates and colleagues.
  • Experience of candidate sourcing using methods such as direct search, Boolean search, LinkedIn Recruiter, talent mapping, referrals or market research.
  • The ability to screen and assess candidates against agreed role requirements and provide clear information to hiring managers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including producing clear and engaging job adverts, candidate communications and recruitment updates.
  • Good organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple vacancies and deadlines.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems and maintaining accurate recruitment information and records.
  • An understanding of recruitment processes and an interest in contributing ideas that improve the candidate or hiring manager experience.
  • A genuine commitment to inclusive hiring, accessibility and creating a fair recruitment experience for all candidates.
