The Advanced Digital Engineering team is a global group of software developers, product managers, user experience designers and digital consultants within Arup. Our work is shaped by our values and the deep domain knowledge of in-house building experts who span the broad range of specialties in the built environment.  Our data-driven solutions aim to empower clients to design and manage buildings more sustainably, deliver insight on urban resiliency from civic data, and empower city authorities to plan, design and deliver infrastructure projects more equitably, efficiently and with greater transparency. 

We also collaborate with experts across our firm to develop and deploy computational tools to enhance their ability to perform design and analysis.  Our team serves as a catalyst for automation across Arup.  Every day we use elegant software tools, cloud-based web applications, novel automation workflows, geospatial tools, advanced data analytics, machine learning and more to advance the design and delivery of airports, rail networks, urban infrastructure, bridges, tunnels, skyscrapers and other key components of the built environment.

Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Undertake numerical analyses using first-principles methdos to solve our clients’ most difficult challanges
  • investigate the physical risk posed by climate change &otherr natural hazards to building assets & infrastructure projects
  • support in complex computational fluid dynamics & wind engineering proects
  • work on defined tasks under the close supervision of a senior engineer


  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Structural Engineering required
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA or higher
  • The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and exceptional organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working
  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels
  • Interested and Curious about the built environment
  • Research oriented, critical thinker
  • Candidate must not require sponsorship, now or in the future to be considered for this role 


  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Structural Engineering
  • 3.5 GPA or higher
  • Course work in probability & statistics, or date science
  • Proficient in programming, web, or app development
  • Experience w/ FEA and/or CFD tools
