You will play a key role in the Buildings Services Team, taking responsibility for the team performance, technical excellence, and project delivery.
Role & Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:
Structural Design: A highly skilled, hands-on Principal Structural capable of designing structural system on high-end and/or complex buildings from concept stage through to IFC.
Design Coordination: Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure the seamless integration of structural systems within the overall building design.
Quality Assurance: Review and verify structural design work completed both locally and remotely by Arup’s structural engineering teams to maintain high quality standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with Arup Group offices performing structural design for Middle East and India projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations. Assist and represent Arup’s services to the clients and stakeholders when required.
Design Development: Receive scope of works or design briefs from engineers and develop them into complete designs—including drawings, schematics, calculations, schedules and reports.
Team Contribution: Work as a member of the Structural team to support the delivery of high-quality structural designs.
Regulatory Compliance: Liaise with local authorities/AOR to secure project approvals and ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement: Provide technical support to facilitate local authority approvals on all projects, whether designed locally or remotely.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Integrate health and safety principles into all work practices in line with Arup policies.
Technical Knowledge: A broad understanding of interdisciplinary coordination is desirable.
Requirements and skills
· BEng/BSc (Hons) in Structural Engineering or an equivalent degree, with a minimum of 8 years of post-graduate experience.
· Minimum 2 years of experience working on projects in the Middle East, particularly in the UAE and KSA, either in-country or from a remote design office.
· Passionate about implementing automation in design and delivery within a BIM environment and good experience with Rhino or Grasshopper skills.
· Highly motivated and willing to tackle new challenges.
· Experienced in structural design of Rail/metro and infrastructure international projects. Proven track record design of steel and concrete structures above and below ground.
· Knowledge of American, Eurocodes, British Standards, UAE & KSA codes and local regulations.
· Ability to work with minimal supervision.
· Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
· Experience of working in Multi-D environment and with good interface skills.
· Good understanding of a broad range building design issues and systems
· Membership in a relevant professional body is required and chartered Engineer status is an advantage.
