The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to drive and shape Arup’s social value delivery in the UK with a primary focus on Cumbria and surrounding areas.
This is an opportunity to join a growing team of social value specialists in our Northwest and Yorkshire team to deliver positive social impact for Arup and our clients. You will also be a key member of our Whitehaven office team. You will develop and deliver innovative and impactful social value offers for a range of clients, notably within the nuclear sector. You will play a key role in across wide range of positive social outcomes, from training and skills programmes to pro-bono support for charities and developing local supplier relations.
You will develop and manage our relationships with local partners to ensure that our activities complement existing activity and meet the needs of communities in which we work. You will play a key role in conveying the impact we have to both internal and external stakeholders – helping us to demonstrate that “we shape a better world”.

Is this role right for you?
The right candidate will possess well-developed knowledge of the key drivers and developments in social value delivery in the UK and in the North-West, and experience of applying this knowledge.
We are looking for the following skills and knowledge:
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage a wide variety of audiences including internal leaders, clients and multi-disciplinary project teams
- Proven relationship management skills used to develop and lead long term relationships, including with local authority and voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCSFE) sector partners
- Experience of applying your social value knowledge, to deliver sustainable change within and for communities most in need
- Appreciation of, and practical experience in using social value metrics in the measurement, monitoring and reporting of social outcomes and impact
- Experience of work winning with a good understanding of social value in procurement
- A self-starter with excellent organisation and skills with the ability to manage projects and programmes of work
- Understanding of social impact in the context of the nuclear industry would be beneficial
