Our Toronto Office is currently seeking a Senior Water Engineer to join our growing Water team. The successful candidate will also act as a Design Lead on projects.
The ideal candidate possesses a broad range of technical skills in water treatment and/or process engineering, and some experience project managing small- to medium-sized projects ideally in complex multidisciplinary projects. The Opportunity
· Lead projects in water and wastewater processes including treatment, pumping, storage and collection.
· Experience in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, pumping stations, low impact development, wet utility design, and water quality is an advantage.
· Maintain positive working relationships with existing and prospective clients, collaborators, and stakeholders. Attend, contribute to, and lead internal and external project meetings.
· Provide direction to junior team members on a range of technical tasks and assume an active role in their career progression.
· Author reports independently and/or with technical input from other teams. Independently conducting field investigations.
· Communicate technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences
· An appreciation of climate adaptation and resilience principles and practices.
· Collaborate on the development of project fees, scopes, staff resourcing, and schedules.
· Presentation skills suitable for colleagues and clients at all levels.
· Delivering work in accordance with Arup’s quality standards, while adhering to each project’s scope, schedule, and budget.
· Understand industry trends and best practices in the civil and infrastructure markets; and participate in local professional associations.

Is this role right for you?
· Applicable degree in Engineering or equivalent.
· Minimum of 8 years’ relevant professional experience
· P. Eng. license in the Province of Ontario
· Experience in the design of water and wastewater networks and facilities (treatment plants, pumping stations etc.)
· Understanding of wider engineering project requirements (e.g., geotechnics, utilities, risk management) and the ability to tailor engineering interventions to suit broader project aspirations.
· Proven ability to work closely with clients and lead projects independently
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Experience with public and/or private water utility clients in Ontario and Canada
· Understanding and knowledge of the local water market and regulations
· Familiarity with local and central government approval and regulatory requirements
· The ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, manage deadlines and exceptional organization skills required.
· Strong analytical skills to develop effective, innovative and commercial solutions
· A commitment to self-improvement and continuing professional development
· Active professional organization involvement (WEF/WEAO, OWWA/AWWA, or similar) is preferred

Toronto Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $125,000 to $148,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
