Climate change, urbanization and aging assets are adding to the stress placed on our water resources for communities. Managing water effectively and sustainably is more critical than ever. Working across a number of diverse and multidisciplined teams, our group provides design and consultancy services both internally and externally on a wide range of projects including: strategic planning for countries, regions, cities, districts, urban development, urban regeneration and waterfront development. With strong technical skills, that could include water risk management, hydrological modelling to water quality control and ecosystem restoration.

The Opportunity
This opportunity will provide engineering and / or advisory support on a range of issues such as water engineering, water risk, urban water resilience, sustainability, and green infrastructure, affording the opportunity to leave a lasting and impactful legacy.
We are looking for a passionate Senior Water Engineer, to join our vibrant and exciting team. The ideal candidate would be a key member within this close-knit, growing London team that functions as a global hub. Your expertise and passion will be crucial in ensuring the continued success and growth of the team via a combination of technical and management activities, e.g., designing, client liaison, project managing, advising, and mentoring. We are open to engaging with dynamic and engaging candidates, who are happy to take advantage of our Work Unbound policy. Therefore, we welcome applicants who live across the UK and who would be open to commuting into the London office, twice a week.
Key to your role and development of your managerial skills, would be mentoring of junior colleagues and collaborators. To this end, the ideal candidate would seek to constantly learn and develop their skills and expertise, in a positive and engaging manner. While the provision of Civil/Infrastructure Engineering is a key part of your role it is also important that you assist in developing our Civil Engineering business by attending client meetings, producing bid documentation and general business development activities.

Is this role right for you?
Working with colleagues at all levels, such as designers and project managers, you will be guiding the delivery of a wide range of projects. These projects will vary from small pre-feasibility studies through to detailed design and supervision of large-scale infrastructure projects. As such, the following technical expertise would be of critical and immense value; A deep and profound interest in Sustainability, Resilience, Climate Change and Smart Cities; Flood Risk, Drainage and Water Supply and Design and planning of Civil Structures and Power Supply.
As this role is critical to the continued success and growth of our business, it is essential that you are a naturally encouraging colleague who is highly motivated and proactive and demonstrates an excellent attention to detail combined with commercial acumen. As a flexible, self-assured, and adaptable colleague you will be comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams with colleagues from a wide variety of professional and cultural backgrounds.
We are seeking the following skills and knowledge:
- MSc or equivalent in engineering or technical subject/ Chartered Engineer or equivalent preferred
- Demonstrable knowledge of civil/infrastructure design and the dynamic overlap between Civil design and Water/Flood resilience and engineering.
- The ability to manage a complex and varied workload often involving multiple concurrent projects.
- Prior Project management on small-medium size projects, whilst mentoring junior colleagues.
- Ability to manage clients directly.
