Senior Track Engineer

As a Senior Track Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of complex rail infrastructure projects across New Zealand, providing technical leadership in track engineering from concept through to construction. Working with local and global multidisciplinary teams, you will deliver innovative, high-quality rail solutions while mentoring engineers and ensuring technical excellence throughout the project lifecycle. You will also play a key role in growing Arup's rail business by developing client relationships, leading proposals, and securing new project opportunities.
The Opportunity
- Lead geometric and structural track design for major brownfield and greenfield rail infrastructure projects, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality engineering outcomes.
- Manage project delivery by overseeing schedules, budgets, resources and team performance while maintaining compliance with quality and project standards.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, mentoring junior engineers and supporting the development of technical capability within the team.
- Represent Arup in client meetings and stakeholder engagements, communicating technical solutions and resolving complex engineering challenges.
- Drive business development by preparing project scopes, proposals and tender submissions while building strong client relationships and supporting the growth of Arup's rail portfolio.

Is this role right for you?
- A Bachelor of Engineering recognised under the Washington Accord, CPEng registration, and more than 10 years of experience delivering rail infrastructure projects.
- Extensive expertise in track alignment design and 3D modelling using Bentley Power Rail Track, OpenRail Designer and MicroStation.
- Strong knowledge of rail systems, track design principles and interface management across civil, systems and construction disciplines.
- Proven leadership and mentoring experience, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to influence multidisciplinary teams and build trusted client relationships.
- A proactive, commercially focused approach with a passion for delivering innovative, high-quality engineering solutions and contributing to the growth of the rail business.
