The Opportunity

 

We are seeking a diverse and experienced individual who can demonstrate a high level of technical skill and experience in spatial planning and land use management, town planning regulatory and compliance, public liaison and community engagement, policy development and compliance planning, and project management capabilities.


You will help lead and coordinate technical delivery of a wide variety of projects, bringing together Arup’s multi-disciplinary expertise to deliver innovative, inclusive and sustainable solutions and building on our trusted relationships with clients across Ireland and beyond in the property, transport, science, industry and technology, water and energy sectors.

About you

The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to work both independently and under guidance, with a proven history of producing engaging, visually compelling, and technically robust results on schedule.

As a Senior Town Planning Consultant at Arup, you will:

•    Business Development: Collaborate with the Cities, Planning and Design leadership to devise and implement a growth strategy for planning in Ireland,          driving revenue, expanding the project portfolio, and enhancing skills.
•    Project Delivery: Oversee planning phases and support project direction across all business sectors, maintaining quality, meeting deadlines, and
     ensuring alignment with client objectives.
•    Project Management: Assist with managing commissions, resources, and budgets, and coordinate inputs from multiple disciplines.
•    Client Engagement: Foster relationships with public and private sector clients, respond to project briefs, and help craft persuasive proposals.
•    Technical Expertise: Use your comprehensive knowledge of planning policy and legislation to influence deliverables and advise clients effectively.
•    Team Collaboration: Work alongside engineers, designers, environmental scientists, and interdisciplinary teams to produce high-quality, collaborative             results.
•    Mentor and support the professional development of graduate and junior staff.
 

 

Skills and Requirements:

 

•    Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in planning, geography, transport, urban design, or a related field
•    Ideally over 10 years of pertinent town planning experience within Ireland, including preparing and submitting planning applications, appeals,                        submissions, strategic infrastructure development, maritime area planning, etc.
•    Advantageous: Experience preparing for and attending oral hearings
•   Chartered Membership of the Irish Planning Institute and/or Royal Town Planning Institute
•   Strong project management background, including overseeing small to mid-sized projects or specific workstreams
•   Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, especially in report writing and developing client-facing materials
•   Demonstrated leadership capability to deliver a vision and plan for growth of the planning discipline, inspiring followership from the team and a              
    strong focus on skills development
