Our Boston office is looking to add a Senior Structural Engineer to our multi-disciplinary team. At Arup, we use the latest design technologies and analytic methods to deliver projects which make a real impact. Sustainability, carbon reduction, and resilience are at the core of what we do. Our team works on local projects encompassing both new construction and renovation/reuse, as well as large international projects like Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz International Airport; and Chongqing, China’s Raffles City Chongqing Development.  The successful candidate can be based out of any of our East Region offices which include: Boston; New York City; Washington D.C.; and Chicago.

 

Project responsibilities include:

 

  • Coordinating with multiple disciplines and working in conjunction with project managers to complete work you are doing
  • Preparing structural calculations
  • Participating in technical reviews
  • Engaging in the QA/QC process to ensure quality outputs
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff as part of discipline and project teams
  • Managing and participating in the production of technical drawings and BIM models to document structural engineering designs
  • Writing reports and producing sketches for internal and external communications
  • Presenting technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences
  • Understanding trends and standard methodologies in structural engineering

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with emphasis on Structural Engineering
  • 6 or more years of experience in the structural design of buildings
  • Exemplary skill in advanced structural analysis and design
  • Ability to integrate digital techniques into the work process
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working
  • Presentation skills among colleagues and clients of all levels
  • The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work, and exceptional organization skills are required for our constantly evolving environment
  • Ability to work in a flexible, dynamic, and multi-disciplinary environment

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineering License in US desired
  • Application of sustainable design principles to structural engineering
  • Experience in assessment and renovation of existing buildings
  • Software familiarity: Revit, Rhino, ETABS
