The Opportunity
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering innovative structural engineering solutions across Arup's diverse portfolio of projects. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will provide professional structural engineering leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and design to coordination and successful project delivery.

You will work closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to develop efficient, sustainable, and high-quality outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, demonstrate the ability to lead and mentor junior engineers, and actively contribute to project delivery, business development, and the continued growth of our Structural Engineering team.

Technical Leadership & Design

  • Lead the structural design and analysis of building projects from concept through detailed design and construction stages.
  • Develop innovative, practical, and efficient structural solutions for reinforced concrete, steel, composite, and other structural systems.
  • Prepare and review structural calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design documentation.
  • Undertake structural assessments, feasibility studies, peer reviews, and due diligence investigations.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and project requirements.
  • Review and coordinate structural interfaces with architecture, geotechnical, façade, building services, fire, and other disciplines.
  • Provide technical guidance during construction and respond to contractor queries, RFIs, shop drawings, and design changes. 
  • PM applications and/or procedures and capturing lessons learnt from project delivery.

Project Delivery

  • Manage assigned project packages and coordinate project activities to achieve programme, quality, and budget objectives.
  • Support project managers in planning resources, monitoring progress, and managing risks.
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and external consultants throughout project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality management systems and project delivery procedures.
  • Participate in site inspections, construction reviews, and commissioning support where required.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers and graduates.
  • Review technical work produced by junior team members.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and technical excellence within the team.
  • Assist in developing structural engineering capabilities, tools, and best practices.
  • Contribute to recruitment and onboarding of new team members.

Client & Business Development

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Participate in proposal preparation, fee submissions, and business development activities.
  • Support project pursuits and technical presentations.
  • Identify opportunities for repeat work and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Represent the firm professionally in client meetings and industry events.

Is this role right for you?

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Architecture or related discipline.
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng), PE, KPE, or equivalent professional registration preferred.
  • Approximately 8-12 years of experience in structural engineering consultancy.
  • Proven experience in the structural design of complex building projects.
  • Experience leading structural design packages and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in high-rise, mixed-use, residential, commercial, or complex building developments is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and building systems.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, SAP2000, MIDAS, SAFE, RAM, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of BIM workflows and coordination platforms such as Revit and Navisworks.
  • Familiarity with local and international design standards, building regulations, and approval processes.
  • Strong understanding of constructability, structural risk management, and sustainability considerations.
