Through our work, we make a positive difference in the world.  We have a great opportunity for a geotechnical engineer to be part of the specialist team of seismic and offshore geotechnical engineers working in our London office. You will work on projects focusing on the energy and infrastructure sectors. You will work with dynamic and vibrant colleagues spread across a range of disciplines including seismic engineering, structural engineering, nautical engineering, and maritime engineering to deliver a wide range of services.  You will also use these skills to characterize site conditions, design and analyze offshore wind and bridge foundations, and plan onshore and offshore site investigations. As a senior engineer, you will be supporting, mentoring and managing junior staff, assisting with their development and ensuring delivery on niche projects.

 

Role:
Ideally, you will be a collaborative and engaging, team player who takes responsibility for your own work. You will have highly attuned analytical skills and be able and prepared to present your work in reports or in client-facing meetings in a clear and concise manner. Communicative and engaging, you will be able to relay critical structural and seismic information to colleagues and stakeholders.
You will work on and manage projects focusing on the energy and infrastructure sectors. Working with and leading colleagues, you will collaborate and support a range of disciplines including seismic engineering, structural engineering, nautical engineering and maritime engineering to deliver a wide range of services.  You will also use these skills to characterize site conditions, to design and analyze offshore wind and bridge foundations, and to plan onshore and offshore site investigations.

 

Essential skills:

  • Experience in planning, managing, supervising, and interpreting ground investigations and laboratory test results.
  • Strong understanding of Geotechnics and dynamic/cyclic loading.
  • Knowledge in site response analysis and liquefaction assessment or knowledge of offshore pile and gravity foundations for renewable energy developments
  • Knowledge of industry-standard numerical modeling software such as FLAC, LS-DYNA, and PLAXIS modeling dynamic soil-structure interaction problems.
  • Interest in the application of advanced soil constitutive models under cyclic loading conditions
  • Project management abilities
  • Experience supporting, managing and developing junior team members.

Education and Qualifications:
A post-graduate qualification (MSc or Ph.D.) relevant to geotechnical and/or seismic engineering would be a benefit albeit not an absolute requirement.
