The Opportunity
We are seeking an individual to join as a Senior Reliability, Availability & Maintainability (RAM) Engineer to join our award-winning Safety, Risk & Reliability practice as part of the Resilience, Security & Risk team within Arup. With offices throughout the UK, we offer flexibility on which office you choose to work from on a hybrid basis. In this role you will work on some of the most challenging and complex UK and international projects within the low carbon transport, renewable energy & digital infrastructure sectors. You will find yourself having to interact, problem solve and influence design engineers, environmental consultants, data scientists, fire specialists and more.

Is this role right for you?
As part of your role, you will apply reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) activities to promote reliability by design, supporting multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects from concept design to system handover. Through all phases of the project life cycle, you will manage RAM effectively. Including the development of RAM requirements to influence and inform design, and demonstration of compliance with system targets via reliability modelling. You will also provide RAM leadership and guidance to our clients across projects, mentorship to their teams, and be a focal point for technical expertise and guidance. Whilst your primary focus will be rail infrastructure, you may also be keen to adapt and transfer your skills to other sectors such as offshore wind and infrastructure.
The role will be client facing and you will be expected to build and foster relationships, and lead business development activities to support the teams growth. As part of a multi-industry team, you will support the development of technical excellence within the team and mentor junior engineers, and support safety and technical risk activities when opportunities arise.
Requirements:
- A background in delivering RAM activities, RAM management, system apportionment, FMECA, Fault Tree/Reliability Block Diagram analysis, FRACAS, reliability growth and maintainability analysis.
- Experience in supportability including sparing analysis and an interest in the digitisation of maintenance, predictive maintenance, machine-learning techniques, new digital tools etc.
- Accredited or working towards Chartered Engineer or equivalent with membership of a relevant professional body. Or a degree in a related discipline, or relevant industry experience.
- Working knowledge of BS EN 50126, BS EN 60812 & MIL-HDBK-470A or international certification on reliability e.g. CMRP, CRP or others.
- Knowledge of reliability software package such as Isograph, Reliasoft or BQR.
