Senior Project Scheduler


Arup are currently looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Scheduler to join their PPM team.


You will have experience in being part of a senior project management team and have experience at board room level and will require C Level client facing engagements. You shall have excellent presentation skills.


You will be expected to develop, manage & drive timelines and have the skill set to integrate into an existing project team. You will be required to mentor more junior schedulers. This is a project specific role for at least 2 years and involves a multiple projects for the Client.


Responsibilities would include:

  • Develop & maintain timelines for strategic planning, procurement, design, engineering, construction & commissioning

  • Develop & maintain progress databases & reporting

  • Oversee Milestone projections, any delays & float path analysis & record delay & disruption

  • Ensure EVM (Earned Value Management) & monitor scheduled performance & productivity

  • Site progress verification, including incorporating quality assessments

  • Attend scheduled meetings, liaising with client & all team members

  • Preparation of procurement schedules & histograms

  • Leading planning meetings & weekly work planning systems

  • Resource / cash loading of schedules & provide data for payment applications

  • Complete contract review reports; ensuring quality & accuracy of all schedules & reports

  • Complying with standard operating procedures

  • Making relevant parties aware of issues & advising on solutions & possibly managing a team of planners

  • Must be able to demonstrate a minimum of 8-10 years construction planning experience which has been gained within a main contracting environment

  • Experience at both the tender and contract stages of projects

  • Possess a good understanding of the construction process and how a project comes together.

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ensure minimum essential planning/scheduling, managing and controlling elements are in place for projects in their assigned portfolio

  • Teach & coach teams, suppliers, specialists on implementation of new best practice techniques.

  • Monitor leading indicators and trends to provide early warning of issues to project teams, the E&C Lead 

  • Collaborate with teams to solve problems before they become overruns or missed deadlines

  • Focus on control and continuous improvement

  • Establish and implement Project Control execution plans in respect of schedule

  • Develop, monitor and maintain overall Monthly Project Reports including forecasting/reporting, progress measurement/schedule status, change management, risk management, and early warning of issues

  • Support implementation of Target Value Delivery

  • Develop and maintain overall Project End to end schedule

  • Interface with AE (Architect Engineer) & CM (Construction Management) Project Control personnel to ensure timely communication and support of project scheduling, control and reporting requirements

  • Support interactive planning sessions for project schedules

  • Working knowledge of progress measurement methods and understanding of earned value systems

  • Review EPCM/Engineering Partners project staffing plans for new projects and ongoing projects

  • functions Understanding and implementation of Change Management and Schedule Risk Management

  • Oversight of individuals (EPCM Partners generally) performing some, or all, of the above. 

  • Liaison with various groups outside the Engineering organization


Project Scheduler Responsibilities

  • Produce Tender/Pre-Con Programmes

  • Work on Project Delivery

  • Work with Clients and project teams

  • Monitor and feed into the commercial aspects of the project

  • Be responsible for multiple project programmes at any one time



  • Bachelor Degree in relevant engineering discipline.

  • 10+ years applicable Project Control related experience

  • leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills and willing to accept and drive change and innovation

  • Working knowledge of project cost and financial management.

  • Experience in Lean Project Delivery Methodologies 

  • Science and Ind experience 

  • Project Management, Construction Management and/or Estimating experience is desirable

  • Trade Partner experience would be helpful
