The Opportunity

With the continued expansion of our Energy business, our North Energy team we are looking for a Senior Project Manager who will be responsible for a variety of activities with an emphasis on Energy sector projects and associated innovative technologies supporting net-zero ambitions. 

We are particularly keen to speak to people with a background in:

  • Offshore Wind 
  • Green Hydrogen Production 
  • Urban Energy Systems 
  • Onshore Power Transmission & Distribution 
  • Energy Storage 
  • Carbon Capture and Storage 

Our Energy business is focused on supporting Scotland and the UK’s energy industry in delivering a net zero carbon economy, while developing a hub of expertise in Industrial Decarbonisation & Hydrogen, Offshore Energy, Urban Energy & Future Energy Systems to support Arup’s global clients. Our growing Advisory service offering includes an increasingly diverse P&P capability comprising PMO, project controls, design integration, and strategic delivery advice to clients in the Energy, Water, Transport, Science and Industry sectors. 

You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of transformational projects in the built environment from major transportation and water projects to energy projects critical to the UKs net-zero plans.  The role will involve delivering projects for major energy sector companies including SSE, SGN, Scottish Power and major wind farm developers.

You will also support consulting and advisory services for public and private sector clients across the energy market, with a particular focus on project management. The project management team also support a wide range of projects in Water, Transport, Science and Industry sectors bringing an interesting and diverse range of projects that you will have the opportunity to work on.    

The North region with offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast, Newcastle and Stockton is engaged with the wider Arup network, delivering projects in a diverse range of market sectors.  The individual will be closely networked with Arup’s national P&P and energy teams and will have access to a breadth and depth of specialist expertise.

Is this role right for you?

We are keen to speak to individuals that have:

  • Experience as project manager, leading infrastructure projects through project design stages, ideally through early-stage design and design development
  • Experience of leading project tasks and technical discipline teams and/or sub-consultants, staff management and staff development 
  • Achieved chartership or working towards chartership from a recognised institution (eg APM)
  • Knowledge and understanding of design and/or development process for major projects and can apply expertise of project management principles to a wide range of projects in the energy sector to deliver value to our clients.
  • Experience of relationship management and development and working with clients to deliver and achieve their project outcomes
