Our rail experience spans a variety of modes such as High speed, Heavy rail & Suburban, Metro and Mass transit, Light rail, Automated people movers as well as Heavy haul freight. Our regional offices contain talented, multidisciplinary teams offering a broad range of professional services and expertise including railway design, construction, installation, and commissioning.
Our 500 programme and project managers are based in 24 countries across the global Arup network and come from a variety of backgrounds with a range of professional qualifications across engineering, design, project management, construction management and cost control.
As the Senior Rail Project Manager based out of Bangalore, you will be a key member of our rail business, responsible for work winning, developing relationships, influencing outcomes. You will assist the Project Director and Rail Business Leader in shaping the strategic direction, understand future market trends, and enhance Arup’s reputation through securing trust with clients, excellent project delivery and technological innovation.
- As the Senior Project Manager for Rail, act as the Arup’s representative in front of its clients with discretion, good judgement, personal motivation and ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- Manage project planning, control, and estimating and co-ordinating the work of project teams.
- Lead the Project financial management including month-end processing bringing commercial success in projects.
- Adopt the established project control methodologies, manage several aspects of project controls processes, support the management of contracts.
- Manage project information flow and assist in developing project execution strategies, lead the project monitoring and progress reporting, including creating reporting dashboards, this includes attending project progress, design, and construction team meetings.
- Configuration and document management, organization, and maintenance of files.
- Integrate health and safety principles into all work practices in line with Arup policies and procedures.
- Risk and issue management status tracking and reporting and guide project teams and discipline leads where necessary.
- Be responsible for change management, procurement and contract administration.
- Organizes a variety of regular and special committee meetings, preparing any required materials.
- Good understanding of railway operations and systems with good understanding of design phases, construction methods.
- Empower high-performing leaders to engage with clients and projects.
- Create an environment of learning and innovation to attract and retain talent.
- For medium to major size railway opportunities act as Bid Manager and act as Project Manager for railway commissions bringing confidence in client engagement.
- Act as Line Manager for project management members reporting to you, fostering professional growth of the team and providing mentorship.
- Bring collaborative working with Arup Group offices performing rail and railway systems design for Middle East and India projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
- Coordinate with the Rail Business Leader and assist Project Director for project selection, and bidding.
- Consult with Discipline Team Leaders on resource availability and Rail Business Leader on commercial matters.
If this role right for you?
We are looking for someone who has:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject, such as Engineering, Architecture, Business, Construction Management or Project Management.
- Masters in an APM accredited Project Management course or Construction methods is an advantage.
- Membership in a relevant professional body is required as Member or higher and Chartered Engineer status.
- Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in Project Management in any railway projects.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working on projects in the Middle East, particularly in the UAE and or KSA, either in-country or from a remote design office.
- Experienced in working on Design and Build projects in the rail sector
- Hands on experience in any of the Project management software such as Microsoft Project software, Primavera will be an advantage.
- Demonstrable track record in project management delivering excellent technical quality on railway design engineering projects in the Middle East & India, with proven experience in various functions and railway systems.
- Experienced in Railway Systems Design and delivery of Railway and Metro international projects.
- Knowledge of American, Eurocodes, British Standards, UAE & KSA codes and local regulations.
- Creative problem-solving approach with a focus on continual improvement and delivering sustainable project outcomes.
- Ability to share knowledge and proactively mentor and manage teams.
- Extensive experience working in a design consultancy as a designer Project Manager with a proven track record in delivering projects in collaboration with remote design centres.
- Capacity to travel overseas (e.g., UAE, KSA and within India) for client meetings and workshops.
