We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Programme/ PMO Manager to join our established and growing Programme & Project Management (PPM) team.  You will be part of a diverse, collaborative team responsible for the successful delivery of Arup commissions across all our businesses, markets and clients. In addition to the wide range of technical specialists and designers, PPM works closely with other Arup client advisory teams across the UK providing a range of services including strategy & insight, finance & economics, and assets & operations. You will bring a desire to deliver meaningful work with successful outcomes for our clients through innovative solutions and contribute to a range of major programmes and portfolios of projects. 

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Programme/ PMO Manager with significant leadership experience and excellent technical knowledge to join us and become an integral part of our London based team. You will bring a desire to deliver meaningful work with successful outcomes for our clients through innovative solutions.
The role of a Senior Programme/ PMO Manager will be to drive, challenge and contribute to the successful delivery of complex major programmes using recognised industry best practice PPM knowledge and advisory skills.  Your typical activities will include:
•    Delivery of programme management services on a range of complex programmes and portfolios
•    Developing PMO and programme management approaches for clients, to suit specific governance requirements, efficient and appropriately scaled, making appropriate use of digital tools. On a strategic or advisory basis or on a more tactical implementation and delivery basis
•    Helping find new work opportunities with current and new clients, developing client relationships and working on bids
•    Supporting the development of new integrated service offerings, bringing together the best of Arup to deliver for our clients.
•    Working and collaborating as part of a team to deliver commissions to a high standard of quality, and client satisfaction
•    Identifying and mitigating reputational and commercial risks to Arup

Technical Skills and Experience
You will be able to demonstrate your understanding, skill, and experience in the following areas:
•    An interest in working on complex major programmes or portfolios of projects and five to eight years of transferrable or actual experience
•    Knowledge of project and/or programme management, including understanding of Managing Successful Programmes methodology or similar best practice
•    Manages moderately complex programmes / portfolios / projects. Leading five or six other people
•    Able to assess real world programme / portfolio / project scenarios in line with your experience and plan a course of action that will deliver the required outcomes
•    Comfortable working with ambiguity and politically complex programmes
•    Able to navigate senior stakeholder relationships within political and organisational sensitivities 
•    Able to get work done through others by supervising the work of juniors and briefing senior staff on the input required from them
•    Involved in staff recruitment and development. Making introductions and connections to benefit others
•    Develop positive client relationships that can lead to project extensions 
•    Effective Bid Manager on bids 
•    Draws on ideas from diverse experiences and acts as lead for developing or delivering new client services 
You will also be able to demonstrate one or more of the following:
•    Project or programme manager for projects delivering digitally enabled change 
•    Understanding of UK Government (national and local) standards and framework guidance for major projects and infrastructure. 
•    Supporting the development of delivery of advisory services to clients 
•    Experience of delivering programmes and projects incorporating sustainable development outcomes

Technical Skills and Qualifications
•    Minimum of a good first degree in a relevant subject
•    Chartered professional in relevant profession e.g. AMP PPQ, ChPP, etc.

Flexible Employer:
Arup have recently announced we are adopting an innovative hybrid model – known as Work Unbound – that will give its 15,500 employees, known as members, greater flexibility in deciding how and where they work subject to specific project requirements. The Work Unbound model will be introduced throughout 2021/22. It includes:
•    Flexible days and working hours across the week – giving UK employees the ability to work their hours flexibly over the course of Monday to Sunday, meaning staff could opt to work over the weekend 
•    Working from home – working remotely is to become a permanent option, as UK employees can choose their place of work for up to three days per week, with two days spent in one of the Arup offices
