Job Title: Senior Planner                 
Location: London

The role

The role will involve:

•    An ability to work independently.
•    Develop project programmes / schedules from first principle (e.g. based on production rates and quantities).
•    Take responsibility for undertaking schedule and progress updates.
•    Able to produce a variety of technical reports such constructability reports and progress reports that capture issues and be able to advise senior project team members of the impact of issues and provide mitigation.
•    Able to develop construction phasing and time location plans and other visual techniques to communicate project phasing, constraints to the other members of the project team.
•    Manages own time and budgets and helps mentor junior members of staff.
•    Delivering work to a high standard of client satisfaction and profitably for Arup.
•    Developing own skills to ensure on-going flexibility and value to clients.
•    Supporting the development of new service offerings.  

Requirements and skills

•    Good understanding of modern construction methods and constructability issues.
•    Fully conversant with planning and scheduling techniques and competent with scheduling software such as Primavera P6 and Asta PowerProject.

Qualifications

•    Professional qualification, ideally to degree standard, in an engineering or building discipline.

Desirable skills and knowledge

•    Have an interest in, and ideally some experience of, 4D construction planning.   
•    Have good communication skills – written and orally – with a broad range of people.
•    Be based in London, with occasional trips beyond.
•    Be self-motivated, proactive and flexible with regard to types of projects and responsibilities.
•    Be reasonably smart and presentable.
•    Able to develop relationships with other planners within Arup, as well as Project Managers and Designers, in order to promote, develop and support the firm’s Project Planning capability and services.
