Senior Pavement Engineer

About you

You are a highly motivated, experienced Pavement Engineer with a proven track record in the delivery of pavement engineering solutions across a range of medium to large scale projects. You are a quality focussed team player with the ability to develop successful client and stakeholder relationships. You take a collaborative approach to design, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver positive outcomes on a range of projects which may include investigation, design and construction of new pavements, as well as pavement rehabilitation and maintenance. You are capable of working independently, as well as leading a small team to deliver high quality pavement investigation and design on time and to budget.

Profile for Success: 

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in pavement, investigation, design and construction
  • Excellent working knowledge of industry standard software for pavement design and relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines.
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Excellent planning, organisation and communication skills, with an ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Recognised relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering - preferably have completed or be working towards additional Pavement Engineering qualifications or a Masters degree.
  • Chartered Membership of EA (or equivalent, or be eligible)

About the role

As a world leader in its field, Arup offers the full spectrum of consulting services including specialisations in a number of highly technical areas such as pavements.

Reporting to the NSW Infrastructure Group Leader and the NSW Geotechnics Team Leader and working closely with principal designers to lead pavement investigation and design activities, you will actively contribute to and support new and ongoing projects within the pavement design and construct arena.  
Drawing on your technical design and management skills in the role you will:

  • Be responsible for managing the production of drawings, specifications and reports for projects encompassing new road pavements (both rigid and flexible), pavement rehabilitation/maintenance treatments, drainage and joints. 
  • Draw on your commercial understanding and project planning skills to manage the project pavements team to ensure delivery to agreed timelines and within agreed budgets including negotiation with clients and suppliers to achieve financial targets and goals.  
  • Supervise, mentor, train and guide junior staff to build capability and actively enhance the skills and capacity of individuals to contribute to the development of the individual to perform effectively and add value to the team.
  • Representing Arup at Internal and external forums and meetings you will demonstrate a longer-term strategic vision for the business in line with Arup’s goals and Quality Management objectives.
