The Opportunity
Within our North sub-region we have a team of 100+ multi-disciplinary engineers working together on a wide variety of energy and water infrastructure projects.
We are seeking an experienced Senior MEICA Electrical ((Mechanical Electrical Instrumentation Control and Automation) Engineer to join and support the Energy, Water and Resources Group. This is an opportunity to join our team and unlock the delivery of technical solutions across a wide range of civil engineering projects.
You will be a key individual for delivery of the electrical engineering workload within the MEICA team and undertake a leading electrical role on multidisciplinary projects. You will be responsible for the design management of substation construction, substation refurbishment / upgrades, electrical distribution studies, LV electrical system, control systems, SCADA, telemetry, capital improvements, building services and HV works. You will be responsible for supervising colleagues in the production of project outputs.
Collaborating with colleagues and clients as a part of teams delivering multidisciplinary projects you will develop imaginative and innovative solutions in response to the project brief. You will provide input at all stages of the project life cycle from concept to delivery, including detailed design and advisory services. You will interface directly with clients and represent Arup.
Candidates will be required to travel to client offices and sites along with other Arup offices as part of the role.
Is this role right for you?
We're looking for the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:
- Degree or HNC qualified in electrical engineering (or similar) / Chartered or Incorporated member of the IET (or equivalent professional institution).
- Experience in a professional Electrical design engineering capacity either within a consulting environment or working closely with a consultancy,
- Understanding and experience of the IEE Wiring regulations, national and international standards
- Experience of producing and interpreting complex or detailed design drawings and documentation (specifications, reports and technical notes)
- Knowledge of Electrical engineering and in particular, design and relevant design tools, techniques and related methods e.g. IT systems, Amtech etc.
- Experience of working under NEC form of contract.
- Proficient at financial modelling associated with optioneering and determining whole life costs
- Experience of preparing proposals for competitive tenders.
