Senior Mechanical Engineer
We currently have a requirement for two Senior Mechanical Engineers to join our growing Building Services Group. Based in either our Dublin or Cork office, the ideal candidate will be looking to further their career and gain invaluable experience in Mechanical Engineering Building Services within an established consultancy with a friendly office environment.
The successful candidate will be involved in a diverse and challenging range of design projects that will include science laboratories in Industrial, Healthcare and Third Level Education projects.
Your responsibilities
- Conceptual design studies, preparation of sketches and report writing
- Carry out mechanical design including but not limited to building analysis, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, specialist gas, water services, drainage and fire suppression systems
- Reviewing design work of junior engineers
- Mentoring and development of junior engineers in the group
- Estimating and Cost Control on projects
- Ensuring that all designs and documents are prepared to the highest standards
- Ensuring full co-ordination between specifications and drawings
- Coordination of work with all members of design teams (architect, engineers of all disciplines, QS etc.)
- Compilation of Specifications for Mechanical Services and Installations
- Preparation of guidance documents
- Preparation of contract documentation and specifications
- Attendance at design team meetings
- Attendance on site, completion of site inspections and site inspection reports
- Compiling project reports
Your Education/Profile
- Degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
- Eligible for and working towards Chartered Engineer and/or Professional Engineer
- Minimum 8 years post-qualification design experience
- Technically excellent in the design of laboratory based HVAC, pressure cascades, specialist gases, understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice, in Industry, Healthcare and/or Third Level Education
- Experience in a wide range of medium to large-scale projects
- Experience in working in design teams
- Developing and maintaining good relationships with industry networks and design team members relative to the team’s activities
- Knowledge and interest in the implementation of sustainability measures in designs
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes of practice
- Proven team player
- Organised and adaptable with a flexible approach to work
- Ability to deliver projects on time and within budget
- Competent in electrical design software
- Ability to work in a BIM environment
- Revit capabilities an advantage
