Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

As a Senior Mechanical, Hydraulics & Fire Protection Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of building services solutions across a diverse range of projects, ensuring technical excellence and the highest standards of quality. Working closely with clients, multidisciplinary teams, and the Building Services leadership group, you will provide strategic technical guidance and innovative, sustainable design solutions. This is a client-facing role that offers the opportunity to manage projects, mentor engineers, and contribute to the continued growth and success of our Building Services team.

The Opportunity

·       Lead the concept and detailed design of mechanical, hydraulics, and fire protection systems, ensuring high-quality technical outcomes across all project stages.

·       Prepare and review design calculations, drawings, specifications, tender submissions, and technical documentation for a range of building services systems including HVAC, hydraulics, fire protection, gas, drainage, and building management systems.

·       Manage smaller and medium-sized projects, overseeing programme delivery, budgets, quality, and multidisciplinary team coordination.

·       Build and maintain strong client relationships by preparing reports, presentations, and providing strategic advice on cost-effective and sustainable engineering solutions.

·       Mentor and support less-experienced engineers, contributing to technical development, innovation initiatives, and ongoing team capability building.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

·       Relevant experience in building services engineering within a consulting environment, with strong expertise in mechanical, hydraulics, and fire protection systems.

·       Demonstrated experience managing smaller to medium-sized projects and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.

·       Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) and a Washington Accord accredited engineering qualification, with eligibility for RPEQ registration.

·       Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

·       A proactive and resilient approach, with strong leadership capabilities, a commitment to quality, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
