As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical, project and people leadership in the delivery of hyperscale and complex data centre projects across the Philippines and the wider APAC region. You will lead multidisciplinary MEPF design from concept through commissioning, ensuring engineering excellence, regulatory compliance, and solutions that meet client requirements for resilience, scalability and performance. Based in our Manila office, you will play a key role in growing Arup's data centre capability through project delivery, business development and team leadership.
The Opportunity
- Lead multidisciplinary MEPF design for hyperscale and complex data centre projects, overseeing delivery from concept design through to commissioning.
- Act as Project Leader on assigned projects, ensuring high-quality technical outcomes, effective project management and successful client delivery.
- Support business development by preparing proposals, developing client relationships, negotiating contracts and helping secure new project opportunities.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers, supervising project teams and fostering capability development within the Buildings team.
- Deliver innovative engineering solutions that meet local and international standards while optimising performance, sustainability, resilience and operational efficiency.

Is this role right for you?
- Professional Mechanical Engineer (PME), ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE), Chartered Engineer or an equivalent professional qualification, with more than 10 years of mechanical design experience, including at least five years working on hyperscale, colocation or enterprise data centre projects.
- Extensive expertise in MEPF building services design, including thermal and cooling load analysis, energy modelling, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), sustainability and critical systems engineering.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, managing complex projects and contributing to business development through successful client engagement and proposal delivery.
- Strong knowledge of local and international engineering standards and codes, including Philippine regulations, US standards, British Standards and other relevant international frameworks, supported by professional affiliations or industry certifications such as PSME, ASHRAE, NFPA, Uptime Institute or ANSI/TIA-942.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to develop engineering teams, build lasting client relationships and deliver technically excellent solutions for complex, mission-critical facilities.
