We are a growing, dynamic office of 80 staff, with a mix of Danish and international talents, and our office is located in the heart of Copenhagen centre. 

Our MEP team in Copenhagen is a core driver of Arup's commitment to sustainable development. The team consists of eight highly skilled engineers specializing in electrical, mechanical, and fire engineering. We are passionate about delivering energy-efficient and innovative solutions that minimize environmental impact. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you'll contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects across Scandinavia and internationally, collaborating with experts from various disciplines.

 

The Opportunity

You will be responsible for the leading mechanical design of multi-disciplinary projects in the healthcare and science and industry sectors, providing input to these projects and managing a project team including junior resources. 

As a technical expert, you will be the mechanical skills champion for Arup’s Copenhagen office, actively engaging with other regional skills leaders and promoting development of junior staff.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer -Arup, you will:

Project Work: 

  • Managing and coordinating the mechanical discipline on large projects, leading the project mechanical team 
  • Coordination of work with all members of design teams (architect, engineers of all disciplines, QS etc.)  
  • Communicating and interfacing with the client, contractor and their consultants Leading and directing mechanical discussions with contractors as the client representative.   
  • Developing and reviewing HVAC, water system, and building control designs for reliability and energy performance  
  • Designing and reviewing design work of intermediate and junior engineers  
  • Ensuring that all designs and documents are prepared to the highest standards.  
  • Compiling project reports 
  • Conceptual design studies and reports  
  • Reviewing contractor’s design submissions, procedures, schedules etc. to ensure compliance with contract documents 
  • Reporting project progress to project management 

Skills Leader: 

  • Actively engaging in the Europe Region Mechanical Skills Network as skills champion for Denmark 
  • Mentoring and development of junior and intermediate engineers in the group  

Business development: 

  • Working in bids and tenders for new projects.  

 

Does this role inspire you?

We're looking for:

  • a Degree in Mechanical Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Public Health Engineering or similar 
  • Minimum 10 years post-qualification design experience 
  • Technically excellent with in-depth knowledge of relevant European standards and regulations. Experience working to Danish standards is preferred. 
  • Experience leading the mechanical discipline in a range of medium to large-scale projects. 
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams on large scale projects, from design through to construction, commissioning, and handover   
  • Ability to deliver electrical projects on time and within budget.  
  • Organised and adaptable with a flexible approach to work  
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.  
  • Experience in data centres is preferred. 
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English and preferably either Danish, Swedish or Norwegian, with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels.
