We are looking for a Senior Manager to join our fast-growing Financial Advisory practice, known in the industry for advising and delivering some of the most innovative projects and procurements in the US. You will work within an existing and growing team providing advice related to the procurement, structuring, and financing of a broad range of projects in the transportation, energy, water, SIT, and social infrastructure sectors.  

You will lead and manage client engagements by providing market knowledge and structuring expertise across a range of sectors in the context of infrastructure projects using non-recourse project financing. You will be serving public agencies and private sponsors to develop projects and programs from inception to start of construction.  The successful candidate will co-ordinate with various industry specialists and business leaders within Arup to ensure the full impact of the firm’s capabilities is deployed in advising the client. This role can be based out of any of our East offices (New York City, New Jersey, Boston, Chicago, Washington DC).

 

The Opportunity  

  • Lead the development and assessment of business cases for greenfield and brownfield projects, including P3’s, analyzing and recommending the optimal project delivery method / procurement strategy.  
  • Collaborate with a variety of clients and counterparties including developers, investors, debt providers, project sponsors and government agencies as well as with co-advisors, notably legal, insurance and our internal technical specialists.
  • Prepare strategies and develop procurement processes for successful project delivery from early-stage planning and financial model development, development of solicitation documents (RFI, RFQ, RFP, and where relevant, PDA), development of the Project Agreement and associated risk identification, assessment and allocation, management of the procurement process, one-on-one meetings, bid evaluation through financial close.  
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams and assist clients in managing complex capital project programs, including providing advice on risk, governance, and organization.
  • Perform financial analysis, review and develop financial projections, analyze financial statements, conduct value for money assessments, and develop financial models for infrastructure project financing transactions, including risk identification, allocation and assessment.
  • Lead client and stakeholder interface activities such as meetings, presentations, and workshops maintaining proactive communications.
  • Manage multiple client engagements at any given time by leveraging internal and external resources focusing on quality deliverables.
  • Deliver expected commercial and financial results for the firm in dynamic and demanding client and stakeholder environments.
  • Develop and mentor mid-level/junior staff to develop analytical and financial advisory skills.
  • Identify and lead pre-positioning activities for future work and lead proposal efforts.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal and external networks, including client relationships.

Is this role right for you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or finance with 8+ years (or 6+years for any bachelor’s degree with an MBA) of relevant financial advisory and project management experience for infrastructure projects.
  • Passionate about infrastructure project delivery, project financing, and delivering impactful infrastructure projects aligned with a sustainable development agenda.
  • Track-record of leading and managing successful teams across multiple engagements.  
  • Specific sector knowledge in project finance, financial modeling, financial statement analysis, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of the commercial and procurement aspects of public-private partnerships (P3) and project financing transactions.
  • Excellent commercial, organizational, presentation, and writing skills are required. Advanced capability with Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint are required.
  • Proven financial modeling, quantitative and financial analysis skills.
  • Must be willing to travel to suit our client’s needs (principally domestically and with the possibility of international travel).
  • Preference will be given to candidates who also hold an engineering degree.

New York City Hiring Range – The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in New York City is $185,000 to $207,000 per year.  This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of New York City will differ.
