The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior / Intermediate Public Health Building Services Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll contribute to multidisciplinary projects from feasibility through to completion, offering expert guidance and working closely with specialists in building physics, sustainability, energy, carbon, and BIM. Our team is part of a wider regional network that includes civil, structural, fire, acoustics, lighting, and other engineering disciplines. Experience in the Science sector is particularly valued, as this is a growing focus for our practice.
You’ll provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior colleagues, helping to cultivate a knowledgeable and collaborative team. Your engineering expertise will be instrumental in shaping projects that align with our commitment to achieving net zero carbon, ensuring sustainable and forward-thinking design solutions.
Working in a multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute to the design of buildings that deliver maximum value to clients while minimising environmental impact. You’ll lead the MEP design on a diverse portfolio of projects at local, national, and international levels, ensuring technical excellence and maintaining high standards across all phases.
Strong project management skills are essential, including responsibility for financial performance and direct client engagement on fees and commercial matters. You’ll ensure transparency and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
You’ll also oversee the successful delivery of complex and concurrent projects through effective leadership, delegation, and team coordination. Reporting to the Project Director, you’ll ensure that all aspects of project delivery are executed efficiently and to a high standard.
Finally, you’ll play a key role in our digital transformation, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and enhancing our integrated digital design capabilities.

Is this role right for you?
We’re looking for a candidate who:
- Degree-qualified in engineering, building services, or a related discipline, and either holds Chartered Engineer status or is actively progressing toward chartership with a recognized institution such as IMechE or CIBSE
- Has proven experience in public health building services design, including domestic water systems, gas systems, and drainage (foul, trade, rainwater), with additional knowledge in medical gas, fire suppression, and below-ground drainage design preferred.
- Can demonstrate success in securing and delivering diverse projects, with the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage external sub-consultants effectively.
- Has strong understanding of relevant legislation, design standards, and emerging trends, with a commitment to sustainable design and alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Is skilled in BIM tools such as Revit and AutoCAD, with a proactive approach to digital innovation and transformation in design and delivery processes.
