About you

Due to the growth of our business and an expanded portfolio of projects, an exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Senior Highways Engineer to join our team in the Sunshine Coast (QLD).
Our project teams undertake work on a variety of urban and rural highways projects in regional Queensland. You will be a key part of our Highways team covering a broad range of skills relating to detailed road design and documentation. You will be responsible for undertaking design and consulting services for various major road projects across Queensland.

You will also be able to demonstrate:
• Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or similar area;
• Relevant industry experience in Highway Engineering with an emphasis on rural and urban road detailed design, and contract documentation;
• Membership of relevant professional institutions or significant credit towards eligibility for membership;
• RPEQ qualification is preferred.
• Ability to communicate with people at all levels in both technical and non-technical environments;
• Effective written communication and report writing skills;
• Ability to maintain personal effectiveness particularly during periods of higher than normal workload;

About the role

The Senior Highways Engineer will undertake design, project management and consulting services within Highways design in order to enhance the team’s portfolio of skills and expertise. The role’s responsibilities will also include:

• Accountability for the delivery and technical performance of highways projects;
• Developing and maintaining the Sunshine Coast office highways team skills
• Taking a longer term strategic view of the business and contribute to the development plan of Arup;
• Setting project budgets; as such you would be responsible for negotiating agreements with customers and suppliers in order to achieve financial targets.
