Due to establishment and growth of a geotechnical team in Adelaide, the growth of our broader business and an expanded portfolio of projects around Australia, including significant roles on most of the large projects upcoming in Adelaide, an exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. 

As part of the Infrastructure team, this role covers a broad range of skills relating to Geotechnical Design. The primary focus of this role is to offer the full spectrum of geotechnical design services for Infrastructure Projects in South Australia and to also provide support to the Australian region 

About you
As a successful candidate for this role you will be able to demonstrate:
•    Understanding of the geological conditions in Adelaide and South Australia
•    Engagement with and understanding of the local Geotechnical profession, including technical societies and proven working relationship with consultants and contractors 
•    Capability to lead and take ownership of geotechnical scope elements of large multi disciplinary projects and lead small single discipline engagements
•    Effectively manage, motivate and develop employees and contribute to the capability development of staff.  
•    Working knowledge of industry standard software for geotechnical design
•    Proven track record in the field of geotechnical design and experience across a range of medium to large scale projects and / or building types
•    Experience of planning, managing, supervising and interpreting ground investigations
•    Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
•    Excellent planning, organisation and delegation skills
•    Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal)
•    Strong commercial awareness
•    Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering 
•    Chartered Membership of IEAust (or in process of obtaining the chartership) 
•    A minimum of 6 years of experience in geotechnical investigation, design and construction


About the role
As a senior engineer in the Geotechnics group you will be expected to:

•    Run project teams under the general guidance of your senior peers.  You will also be given responsibility for training and mentoring junior staff.

•    Work without supervision on geotechnical design activities including foundations, retaining structures, embankments and slopes.  In achieving this you will be responsible for meeting deadlines, monitoring budgets and controlling expenditure to meet financial targets, referring up as necessary.

•    Responsible for the performance and development of others and as such you will be required to provide guidance, training, direction and feedback. 

•    Assist the Geotechnical leadership team within the region in development of client relationships; training and mentoring of geotechnical team members, and fostering of strong working relationships across Arup globally

•    Hold responsibility for the development, design and management of small projects.  This will involve coordinating people, facilities and resources within tight timelines and in line with budgetary constraints.
