About you

Arup have an amazing opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Flood Modeller / Engineer to join our vibrant and enthusiastic Infrastructure group in the Sydney Office. As a key and valued member of the Flooding team, you will play a lead role and bring your technical expertise, attention to detail and commercial acumen to an expanding portfolio of exciting projects. If you have experience and/or interest in major infrastructure projects, this role could be for you!

To be successful in this role you will have:  

  • Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications and relevant skills.
  • Minimum 8 years post graduate industry experience, most likely in consulting engineering or a similar local/state government role, with exposure to medium-large and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to demonstrate your experience in design, project management and implementation in this field, within a consulting business environment.
  • Flood modelling experience (1D, 2D, combined 1D/2D).
  • Experience in TUFLOW, HECRAS software packages.
  • Hydrologic analysis (e.g. RAFTS, URBS, RORB, WBNM, etc).
  • Awareness of AR&R2019 processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in NSW linear infrastructure projects
  • An ability to work on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Project management proficiency.
  • Experience in dealing with clients and business development.
  • Proposal preparation and tendering.
  • Supervision of junior staff.
  • Aspirations to lead a team of flooding professionals in the Sydney office.
  • Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines.
  • Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership will be highly regarded.

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for leading projects with flooding elements. This will include responsibility for the design package within a project.
  • Be responsible for the performance and development of others through providing guidance, training, direction and feedback. This will include directing and acting in a mentor capacity for junior team members.
  • Represent your team or technical discipline at external meetings with clients or project stakeholders.
