Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

You will play a pivotal role in advising, designing, and developing new and innovative solutions to meet the requirements of clients across the built environment landscape. Within this role, you will undertake a combination of work direct- to- market (i.e. fire protection engineering) and, multi-disciplinary work as part of a wider ‘Arup’ offering to market. Our work spans all market sectors and we always aim to have a diverse range of projects. Additionally, we regularly participate in advisory roles to government to assist with policy change, continually undertake self-funded internal research to upskill ourselves and lead the industry in facing new fire safety challenges.

The Opportunity

  • Act as a Project Fire Services Engineer on a variety of specialist or broader engineering projects, providing detailed technical input with respect to fire safety engineering elements and related areas and interfaces with other disciplines.
  • You will be required to undertake detailed design work in relation to wet and dry fire (sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, specialist suppression, fire alarm/detection, MASDS, EWIS). While not essential, experience in Autodesk Revit is ideal as it will facilitate seamless collaboration and integration with other design disciplines.
  • You will be accountable for tasks on medium and large projects working within a larger project team and working towards the ability to manage your own projects. You will also be responsible for managing project quality, delivery, predicting and planning your own resourcing.
  • You may be required to represent Arup at internal and external meetings (with assistance and supervision as needed). You will be expected to be a competent communicator who can prepare project reports for clients summarising key issues and provide strategic advice on safe and cost-effective outcomes for the project.
  • You may be involved in setting task or project budgets; as such you would be responsible for negotiating basic agreements with customers and suppliers in order to achieve financial targets.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.
You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

  • Extensive industry experience specifically in Fire Protection Engineering or generally within the built environment in a design / engineering role.
  • Some Previous experience in consulting within the Building Services industry preferable.
