Senior Fire Engineer

The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for an engineer who is chartered or currently working towards chartership status and looking for technically challenging work on cutting-edge projects to join our established building services team in London. We are looking for someone who can provide a combination of fire and safety technical skills to our projects in the UK and Worldwide. The role will interface with a multi-disciplinary services design team, and you will be required to take a lead design role for fire safety systems: both standalone and multi-disciplinary projects. You will work with architects and other systems engineers to develop combined system designs which consider aesthetics as well as being technically correct and code compliant. Translate Client requirements into an appropriate and clear project delivery approach, making sound decisions and communicating effectively at all levels both internally and externally. In partnership with the Group Discipline Leader, assist the ongoing development of a high performing engineering team by dissemination of knowledge to other engineers throughout the firm.
Is this role right for you?
You will demonstrate a level of experience in the design and implementation of fire supressing/extinguishing systems, fire detection systems, smoke clearance and control systems and risk/hazard mitigation. You will be responsible for the overall design, technical delivery, quality and/or management of fire safety systems design of small to large, complex projects, co-ordinating with other design team members and project stakeholders. You will provide information on fire safety design to other engineers within the company, conduct design reviews, and assist in the development of junior engineers. As a senior engineer you will have strong knowledge of appropriate sector specific legislation, code requirements and design guidance. Demonstrated experience with any of the following key standards were used for fire protection design: British / European standards, NFPA, Factory Mutual Data Sheets.
Requirements
Capable of undertaking fire protection system design from Concept to Contract issue, including undertaking fire suppression hydraulic calculations
Proven track record of working on multiple projects concurrently, working to tight deadlines, and managing multiple priorities
Demonstrate an understanding of health and safety legislation & CDM, plus a commitment to safe working practices
Have experience in the process of developing risk assessments (DSEAR, HAZID, HAZOP) to help ensure projects provide a reasonably safe place to work. An understanding of process control diagrams and chemistry would be useful for forming risk assessments
A good understanding of BIM and experience with using advanced modelling software such as Revit
