We are currently seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance Business Partnering team in Toronto, Ontario to primarily support our operations in the Americas North geography, which includes 3 offices across Canada. The Senior Financial Analyst will also provide regional FP&A support for the Americas region. This position will report to the Americas North Senior Finance Manager and interact directly with finance staff throughout the region.
 

Responsibilities: 

Group Finance:

  • Partner with business unit leadership and Project Managers to drive improved commercial performance of business units.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes for your assigned business units.
  • Responsible for monthly closing and management reporting for the business units.
  • Provide insightful analysis for business unit leadership on project and operational performance, including monthly actual to budget reviews and variance analysis.
  • Provide insightful analysis for geography leadership, including monthly actual to budget reviews of overhead costs and variance analysis.
  • Coordinate with other functional departments (Legal, Tax, etc.) on issues related to business activities.
  • Work with management to provide decision support analysis. 

Project Finance:

  • Coordinate with project managers to build scope change management, monitor and maintain target cash flow, invoicing and profitability for all projects, and update internal monitoring tools and document control processes.
  • Understand key contract requirements that might impact the commercial performance of the project.
  • Review and approve project financial forecasts prepared by project teams.
  • Perform variance analyses and forecasting to identify high risk projects.
  • Track issues and help drive resolutions for risks identified.
  • Work in partnership with Project Accountant and Billing team members and Project Managers to oversee and support the monthly invoicing and cash collection processes.

Regional FP&A:

  • Provide insightful analysis for geography operations across the Americas Region, including monthly actual to budget reviews of overhead costs and variance analysis.
  • Jointly developing/improving forecasting processes, reporting tools/dashboards while interpreting results and providing insight to support a wide range of business and financial decisions.  
  • Provide analytical support and other financial analyses to the geography controllers.
  • Analyze and interpret trends, costs, revenues and financial commitment to predict future revenues and expenses.  
  • Various ad hoc reporting and projects as necessary.


Qualified professionals will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA/CPA Preferred
  • Between 3-5 years of FP&A experience
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Superior analytical skills with the ability to develop and maintain complex financial models
  • Advanced Excel and working knowledge of relational database information systems
  • Someone who likes to get out from behind the desk and get involved in the business
  • Must be detail oriented, thorough, well organized and effectively manage time
  • Strategic thinker with exceptional problems solving skills
  • Very proactive; must show willingness to improve existing processes and take on additional responsibilities
  • Proven ability to synthesize financial information into a concise story and articulate it effectively
